Rave: Our neighborhood has had some utility issues for awhile now, and this past summer i finally lost it and became "that letter-writing guy". I wrote to the company responsible, I wrote to the Board of Public Utilities, I wrote to the mayor, I even wrote to the Governor's office. The issues didn't get resolved so I followed it up with a phone call a couple of months ago.

Today a neighbor texted me to let me know that utility repairs along our entire street are being made as we speak, and the issue will be resolved shortly. As a result, a few neighbors have declared today "Misanthropic Day"

I hope there will be a parade. And fireworks.

Damnit: Every time I make cookies, I make a point of giving most of them away so I don't eat them all and so my pants don't cease to fit, and every time I wish I kept more cookies. These ones were super yummy, with toasted pecans and dark chocolate chips and coconut flakes. First world/fat kid problems.

Rant: People who make a big deal about leaving a party because they're not having any fun, as though the rest of the party goers are supposed to reflect on all the things they did to make the party so unappealing to that one individual even though, for the most part, everyone else is having a decent time.

    Enough responses to this.

I could go into a tirade but in the interest of not fueling any fires I won't. All I'll say is posts like this are such bullshit and have been for the 9 years I've been around.

    Wah.

    RAVE: It's Friday.
RANT: I'm in a "I hate people" kinda mood.

Rave: I've had a brilliant last week in Australia before *gulp* immigrating to the US. A couple of huge nights out with close friends, quality time with loved ones, and even saying farewell to the girlfriend (now ex, I guess) was not as bad as I thought it would be. Bittersweet even.

RAVE: Holy shit I'm immigrating to the US tomorrow. Those words feel so strange to say or write. It seems like such an enormous thing, but it feels like the easiest thing in the world to me. I'm a weirdo.

Rant: Packing. Fuck packing. God I hate packing. And it's going to be worse when I have to lump three 50lb bags down three flights of stairs at 8am tomorrow.

Rave: I don't make a lot of money. As most of you know, I walk dogs and cat sit for money nowadays. I've done a lot of things in my life. Every once in a while, something happens that takes you by surprise.

One of the dogs I'm currently walking is a puppy, an 11 week old Boston Terrier named Louie. The owner is new to dog ownership and works at a hospital, so she works 10 hour shifts. I met with her and the puppy about a week after she got it. This little guy has me wrapped around his finger. I really love this little guy. Anyway, she asked my opinion as to how many walks a day the little guy would need. I told her 2, but that I would stop in for a third free of charge. My boss was totally on board with this approach. Yeah, I know, I don't have the killer instinct when it comes to money, I should have charged her for all three walks, but it's my time and I'm in a position where I'm fortunate (and eternally grateful) that I don't need to make a lot of money.

So every day that I walk this little guy, I stop back on my own time to take him out again and give him some love.

Yesterday, I walked into the owner's apartment, and there was a baggie with four homemade cupcakes. She left a note saying that Louie made them for me. I'm not sentimental, but I almost felt some moisture in my eyes. Probably just allergies.

Every once in a while, someone does something for you that you didn't expect, and it makes your day.

That made my day - even though I don't eat sweets - because of the thought behind it. It was a wonderful surprise.

Rant: there is not enough alcohol in the world to get me through this day. I've already had to deal with my mother in law being extra judgy in church today, spending the better part of the morning implying how shitty we are as parents because we didn't want our kid running around freely in the church bothering everyone. On top of that my wife is in ultra-pms mode and very word I say is pissing her off.

Now, I have to go to dinner with these people, and I can't possibly drink enough to put up with their shit today.

    Ugh.

RAVE: I aced every skill check off and am officially finished with clinicals and clinical paperwork!

    RANT: Until next semester.

SCARY RAVE: Only myself and about 30 other students out of 80 are able to say they will more than likely pass this semester. The vast majority are on the borderline. Since the beginning of the semester started we have lost about 10 - 11 students. Now that all the nurse aide stuff is pretty much taken care of I'm finally starting to feel like I'm in nursing school.

RAVISH RANT?: Next semester is going to be a LOT harder. Clinicals two days a week and the addition of pharmacology class. But once that is done it should be a lot easier and can start thinking about the RN program. I want to be involved in the medical profession very very badly. I love it. I may be getting a bit ahead of myself, but I think nurse practitioner or PA may be a good way to go.

Just for a bit of info- dog was nearly put down the first time but my brother in law talked my sister out of it. All incidents were food related and I think he thought they could control it since normally the dog plays very nicely with the kids. Other incidents were also far more minor than the most recent one. Still, not defending the decisions they made leading up to 14 stitches. I think he was an idiot for not trying to at least rehome the dog to someone without kids or something. It's hard to make the decision to put down a family pet, but the writing is on the wall now.
