Rejoice! Tomorrow is the official first day of spring. It certainly feels that way around here. Daytimes are warm and sunny, I have baby plants growing in the garden, the cows visible from my deck are nursing calves, the birdies are singing, the ducks are raping, the tulips are blooming.

    Take a deep breath..... AHH!

Sorry Canadians. You'll have to wait 3 more months for weather like this.

Google image search ruined. Apparently there exists a "Springtime 4" graphic art/comic porno and the search results were a bunch of this garbage. I was really hoping for meadows or bunnies. I guess I have to spell it out for google, even though it is usually a little snoopy mind reader. This isn't what I wanted, google!

    Better.

Enjoy your weekend, idiots. I'll be eating chicken salad and pulling weeds. Anyone have fun spring cleaning chores planned?

I have taken 4 truck loads of nonsense to goodwill and sold $68 worth of used books to a book store in SC. I am pimping FB marketplace hard as shit.

My moms house has mold. My mom has one lung. It's in every room.

I have consolidated my earthly possessions to fit into one bedroom, and I now gaze longingly at every motorcycle I see.

    Fuck March.

Probably not the best way to maintain a healthy lung.

I’ll be spending the evening drinking the rest of my Guinesses that I didn’t touch on St. Patrick’s Day.

Anyone else starting off their weekend with a colonoscopy? No... just me?
Well, I can't say the actual procedure was bad as I was nite nite and I didn't have to wait too long in the waiting room, but WOW what fun the previous 36 hours were.

I figured I would be non-stop eating after but strangely, just having a late lunch has been enough... so far.
I'm not sure I'm feeling adventurous enough to have a drink yet.

I posted about the dusting of snow we got this morning. I had nearly an inch on the deck and a light coating on the ground. A few degrees colder and we'd have had a foot of accumulation, it snowed that hard.

And just to show what kind of psycho mother nature is and the way she treats the southeast regularly, we had to cut the air conditioning on at about 5:00 this evening. I was refusing to do it as a matter of principle. My wife hit the switch, though.

I don't know whether to post this here, the Homesteading Thread, or the Rant and Rave thread, but I came home today and found out that Jungle Julia bought TWENTY ducklings today.
    Sheesh.

Did you guys buy them before when you were asking about ducklings and chicks or are these the first batch?

Better get your butchering gear together.

Load up on some oranges and you’ve got a nice feast.

    Pretty strange impulse buy though.

They are cute and fuzzy babies. Irresistible. At least JJ has raised some to adulthood already. I had to leave some duck 101 group on facebook because the number of people who asked "So I just bought these ducklings from tractor supply, what do they eat?" was about to make me homicidal.

Which is why I think stores shouldn’t be allowed to sell live animals like that. For many it’s an impulse buy, and I can only imagine how many end up dead or neglected.

    Shitty chef, getting better!

I made steaks tonight. Instead of doing the old “steakhouse seasoning” bottle, I did butter, minced garlic, and rosemary leaves, letting it heat the fuck up.
Steaks on, high heat, three minutes a side. Turned it down, spooned some of the buttery drippings onto it for a few minutes. I thought to myself, “they’re probably almost ready.”
The voice in my head said, “YOU TAKE THOSE FUCKERS OFF RIGHT NOW.”

Thank you, voice in my head.

Pairs excellently with Gentleman Jack and Canada Dry Bold

Bah, why did I not buy seadoo engines in the winter? Why the hell would I wait till spring to start this project? I know it's because I hate cold weather and basically hermit away in the house all winter, but I've put myself way behind where I would like to be.

6-8 weeks to get reman'd engines, or I buy the kit, sleeves, crank and rod bearings and do all the work myself, just send off to have the new sleeves board and honed, and probably take just as long.

Yeah, I get shit for having "future project parts" sitting on shelves... but when they come on sale, especially in the off season, I have no problem with stocking up so that they're there and ready to go when I'm ready.

Sorry to hear timing isn't working out for you.
