    I grew up in Texas and distictly remember getting slapped for saying "fixin' to." I was admonished that we are not "Texas Trash."

    That would depend on how exotic they were and what you did there...

    So is "fixin' to" pronounced "fiddin'a"? Because it took me a long time and several mutterings of "Damn Yanks" to figure out that "tamorra I'm fiddin'a maow th' yoord" (not an exact translation) meant the guy in the cabin next to us was planning on cutting his grass the next day.
