The Oxford-English Dictionary just added a bunch of new words. I'm still not sure if this is a joke.

    Some highlights:

    butt-fuck (and it's variations)
    crapper
    'Merica
    moobs
    YOLO

Focus: Discuss the list. Do we really need "slacktivist" on there?

Alt. Focus: What words do you think should be added, or will be added next?

Did dictionaries always include slang? I suppose it makes sense to include words that are in the English vernacular. ROTN do you have a link to the full list of newly added words?

Really who cares about dictionaries anymore? Back in the day like say the 1860's I'm sure they were useful for those who wanted to be smart and separate themselves from the common folk. Language has always been a flexible dynamic thing, the dictionary is just a meaningless artifact.

The only purpose for them is to let software know when I've misspelled something.

It all went downhill when they added "jiggy".
