Most all of us have a middle name and some of us are stuck with such horrible middle names we spent our childhood claiming we don't have one to avoid ridicule.

    Mine is Alvis.

What the fuck kind of name is that?

As I grew older I questioned my father (Who I was named after) about it. He told me numerous tales about the origin. It was one of our family's loyal slaves (It turns out we didn't own slaves, we were dirt poor share croppers) and Alvis was a Civil War general (Nope).

I finally asked my grandmother and she informed me that my father (And thus me) was named after the landlord's son. Who was a gimp. She had no idea who Alvis was, she just needed a name for her 11th kid and that one seemed just fine.

So, basically I'm named after my grandparents' landlord's son, because why the fuck not?

Focus: What's the story behind your middle name?

    Word up, Ray Jay.

My middle name is Lynne because my parents wanted to be just a little bit difficult. No one else in the world spells it with an E. Which was my argument when my name was incorrectly spelled on our family tree.

And that is the reason I claimed to have no middle name as a child. Folks thought it was HILARIOUS to call me Elvis.

Gene. After my grandma and great-grandfather. My grandmother was one of five girls (no boys!), and her middle name was Gene after her dad, Eugene. My parents passed her middle name down to me because her first name was SUPER old ladyish. As opposed to my actual first name which is only old ladyish. Not SUPER.

My middle name is Ross. Which is kinda funny considering my last name is Reese, and Ross and Reese are derivatives of the old Welsh Rhys, so essentially my name is Clayton Rhys Rhys. For another funny naming convention, all of my three brothers, one older and two younger, we all have names that end in '-ton' and all have middle names that begin with 'R'. I guess my mom or dad thought it was cute.

My middle name is Neil after my Grandfather on my mothers side. The twins middle names are Arthur after my father in law and Robert after myself. Yeah I had to get a little vanity into naming them.

Mine is "muir" after the naturalist John Muir. Discovered Yellowstone. Because dope-smokin hippies name their kids after what they want them to be, not what/where they come from.
