Before you judge, this is not your typical Dave Matthews song, I promise. The last time it was played live was August '09, it has never been studio recorded, and there are over 7 known variations of this song - both lyrically and instrumentally. And when he brings out that 12-string Veillette red guitar....well, just listen.

This song ended up on one of Spotify playlists. It’s a Swedish melodic death metal band called Soilwork. It’s a fuckin’ banger.

My sister posted this on Facebook and I dug it. Sharing it here because I see he’s an artist on @Nettdata ’s namesake label

Dude I love this song. E had it on heavy rotation at garage night for awhile, and I’ve heard in some unexpected places/settings. Great stuff.

I'm on a current Mike Dawes kick.

Donated some cash to him today and paid for his set of available tunes, and holy shit if he wasn't a nice enough guy to email me and thank me personally. We then had a few emails back and forth, where he explained he was trying to get a tour together for Canada.

Today, he released this song that convinced me he is worthy of my donation:

but this was the first song that really hooked me:

and then I went down a rabbit hole, only to find out that he was touring with one of my all-time favourites, Tommy Emmanuel

And if you watch any casual videos of him, like where he describes his gear, you see what a great guy he is.

Ran into one of Paul Cauthen's videos about a month ago, and I kind of dig what he's doing. I'd consider him to be more funk than country, but regardless, his band knows how to lay down some funk.

    Couple of different live videos.

I follow a YouTuber named Michael Palmisano, and he's introduced me to a few killer guitarists.

The Paul Cauthen video was one. (Not so much a killer guitar player as just a great funk tune).

Another one was a guy named Daniel Donato.

This is a video of Michael sitting in with Daniel's band.

    I dig it.

This was the video that made me order one of Johnny's signature guitars... and it's one of the best playing guitars I own. LOVE IT.

Probably not what most of you listen to but this song is a bop and the music video is real silly. It has been heavily featured in my house painting soundtrack along with CHVRCHES and Robyn and The Japanese House and other poppy nonsense.

As if the chili peppers weren’t busy enough, they are releasing another album this year. And I love this new single.

Greg Koch doing some small/live gigs a couple years ago. Josh Smith sat in.

Josh is a hell of a good player, but Greg is just on another level... when you see Josh look over laughing going "WTF are you DOING?!?!", you know some crazy shit is going down.

If you're into 80's metal, check out GlamHairSleaze Heaven on youtube. There's some clunkers in there for sure, but there's some really good stuff that never made main stream. They have tons of full albums and demos. They even put up the album by my buddies Luv Hunter a few weeks back.

Jeff Plate is the drummer for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and from our area. He's an absolute great guy.

Anyhow a couple years ago he released an album with a side project known as Alta Reign, and it's really worth a listen. Especially if you like old school, 80's heavy metal. This is the first track I ever listened to and it hooked me right away. The whole album is pretty good and worth a listen:
