I am old as fuck, plus I am down at the office alone cleaning so I am blasting out old rock from my youth. It is currently Bachman Turner Overdrive, but there is some Aerosmith that is waiting on the sidelines.
I just dug out an old mix CD from 2004 that was in my glove box. Stuff like Incubus, Korn, Senses Fail, Jistoray, New Found Glory, SRV, Lostprophets, Ben Folds, and Fallout Boy.
No one cares if YOU'RE listening to Pokerface. I'm pretty sure you all find it fascinating that I'm listening to Party in the USA. But seriously, I just picked up Swoon by Silversun Pickups. It is such a mellow album. If you like the single they released from it, Panic Switch, you'll love the rest of it. My personal favorite off the album is "It's Nice to Know You Work Alone".
I get a lot of shit from my friends for liking Harry Chapin. He was a singer song writer in the 70's and my dad got me into him. He writes some of the best ballads I have ever heard. Chapin is most famous for Cats in the Cradle but A Better Place to Be is my favorite. Besides this I've been on an Offspring and Killers kick recently.
Pink Floyd the live Pulse album. Shine on You Crazy Diamond is a great way to start the day but it is 13 minutes long so I have to drive slow.
This is what I've been listening to. It's wonderful and if you ever played Zelda in your youth you will most assuredly love it.
Right now I'm feeling like a 10-year-old girl circa 2000. I've been listening to NSYNC and Backstreet Boys all damn weekend (used to like BB). Damn hooky tweeny pop. Other than that, I've recently got into Mike and the Mechanics, pop-mode Genesis, and George Michael. The Living Years is freaking amazing.
What do you call a Canadian redneck? Anyways, I'm listening to the Charlie Daniels Band - Longhaired Country Boy right now.
Thanks to that new car commercial (Chrysler I think?), I've discovered and been listening to alot of Phoenix lately. Good stuff
I finally got around to picking up Them Crooked Vultures the other day. It took me a couple of listens to get right into, but I'm pretty much blown away with it now. Nothing hugely groundbreaking, but it's tight, well produced and not overdone. It's also got enough elements from all over the place to be a bit timeless, in a good way. I don't think this album is going to get dated. And I'll be damned if there isn't a few jams on there that you could easily get up and dance to.
My tastes in music are very eclectic. However, at the moment I'm being a total girl and my two most repeated songs are Need You Now by Lady Antebellum and Falling For You by Colby Calliat.
I fucking hate normal radio. They play the same shit over and over no matter which station you listen to. So for the last month or so it's been 90's rock on the computer. Silverchair, Hole, Everclear, Catherine Wheel and Nirvana have been in heavy rotation. I recently discovered that I can stream SomaFM (Tag's Trip is the shit.) on my blackberry so I've been abusing the fuck out of my "unlimited data" plan.
After learning about him from a newly-met friend at moe.down this year, I'm listening to Robert Palmer- Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley. The only comparison that's floating into my mind right now is a bit of a cross between Jerry Garcia's voice and the music of Dr. John. I'm enjoying it for sure.
Between the Buried and Me- Informal Gluttony. For some reason I always skipped over this track when I was listening to Colors; I gave it another try a few days ago and find a sweet harmonic minor riff I had totally forgotten about.
I am doing some intricate prep work for a delicate recipe that has taken me 8 hours to get halfway through. It is enough to drive me to madness. During these times I listen to Keith Jarrett's opus "The Köln Concert". At least for me, it balances everything out.
