The CD holder thingie in my car only holds 5 CD's. I like a big variety of music. As a result of my love of all different types I currently have the following variety pack in my car: Cake-Comfort Eagle Train-Save Me San Fransico Ween-12 Golden Country Greats Blind Melon-Nico Primus-Singles FOCUS: Your turn.
Rebelution - Singles Blink 182 - Enema of the State System of a Down - Toxicity The Doors - Greatest Hits And about 3 MP3 mixes with everything on my computer I use to have a country CD that my ex made me but somehow it flew out the window.
The one and only CD in my car is Charlie Hunter - Baboon Strength. I bought it at one of his shows at the Main St. Pub in Manchester, CT last summer and it hasn't been pulled out since. I also haven't listened to it in months. It might be melted in there, who knows. As for variety, I've got Sirius Sat radio and a hard-wired iPod that never leaves my car. I have no use for CD's.
Is getting a Sirius Sat radio worth the investment, and how much does a setup cost? FOCUS: My CD holder is empty now, unfortunately. However, when it did hold CDs it held the following six: Good Riddance - Remain in Memory None More Black - File Under Black Face to Face - Don't Turn Away Social Distortion - Self-Titled Strung Out - Twisted By Design Authority Zero - Andiamo
I usually just plug in my iPod. But my go-to 5 are: New Junk Aesthetic - Every Time I Die Sigh No More - Mumford & Sons 19 - Adele Paper Trail - T.I. Heavier Things - John Mayer
Heavy for me: Clayman (Reloaded) by In Flames Across the Dark by Insomnium Since the Day All Came Down by Insomnium Inhumanity by Mors Principium Est 4:17am by Before the Dawn I've taken a big liking to Scandinavian metal in the past couple years.
I only have one cd in my truck. It holds 120 mp3's and has everything from Buckcherry to White Zombie.
Any Sublime People Under the Stairs- Question in the Form of an Answer. Favorite hip hop album ever. Mayer Hawthorne- Self titled. Gotta have me some soul. Tool- Aenima Ween Chocolate and Cheese Could live off those.
I have Sirius is my car and I feel it is one of the best investments I have ever made. I can listen to Howard Stern all day if I really want and the variety of music is incredible. You pay for it either monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or lifetime.(correct if I'm wrong) The longer you pay in advance, the cheaper it becomes per month. I think right now, its around $15 per month. There are no commercials on the music channels and no censorship except on the top 40 stations. My go to channels are Stern Lithium, which is 90's grunge Coffee House, which is all acoustic 90's music in general Octane, rock and alternative from the last decade I don't remember the last time I listened to regular radio. The best part is, if you are on a road trip or something, you never lose your channel.
Robert Cray - Strong Persuader Dierks Bentley - Feel That Fire Switchfoot - Hello Hurricane Rush - Caravan / BU2B Rush - Fifth Order of Angels (Boot)
Nine Inch Nails- The Downward Spiral Bob Marley- Exodus Tool- Aenima Dr. Dre- 2001 Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers- Full Moon Fever
I use Sirius as well and it's fucking awesome, initial cost for me was ~$400. That was the receiver, the stand with radio adapter and a years subscription (~200 for the hardware and 200 for the years subscription). I would pay double that for it; that's how much I love it. I used to use an iPod with radio adapter and would listen to that all day at work. Mainly because I fucking hate listening to terrestrial radio with all their shitty music and commercials. I've got access to like 150 channels that have commercial free radio, except for the DJ who talks for about ten seconds every fifteen minutes or so; I rarely hear the same song twice in a day and it's never shitty music. I'm currently listening to Jason Ellis, who is having porn stars wax his assistants balls live on the radio. It's probably the funniest thing I've heard in a long, long time. Focus: Fuck CD's. Digital is the future baby!
Pfffft whatever. That's what people said about LP's when cassette tapes came onto the scene. I have a Sirius but not hooked up in my newly acquired car, yet. It is $14.93 a month and worth evey penny. I love it. I listen to Stern, Bubba (was better way back when) and a wide variety of music from Coffee House to the Elvis channel. If you're thinking about getting one, stop thinking and just do it. You won't regret it.
I dont drive but these are my top five MP3 player albums at the moment B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray Coheed and Cambria-Year of the Black Rainbow Moneen- Are We Really Happy and/or The Red Tree Anything from my friends "J'aime le Dubstep" series of mixes http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/jaime-le-dubstep-presented/id348535277 Random hip hop tracks from, Drake, Jay Z, Foreign Exchange, Eminem, MOP, Ken Starr, Masta Ace, Edo G Honestly, I have a shitty MP3 player and this is all that fits.
Eminem - Slim Shady LP Mos Def - New Danger The Roots - The Tipping Point RJD2 - A mix cd that I made Dr Dre - 2001 I haven't bought a new CD in a while and usually just listen to the radio now since I don't need to drive very often.
I don't drive either, and I have an iPod crammed with various albums, but these are the most heavily played five from my current selection: A Day To Remember - Homesick Mindless Self Indulgence - If Combichrist - What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People? Suicide Commando - Bind, Torture, Kill Alkaline Trio - Crimson I know ADTR is the odd one out of that mix, but I LOVE that album.
I have been either too busy or too lazy to re-install the sound system in my car, so the only time I listen to music in a car is when I have to borrow my dad's truck for something. The CD player in my dad's truck is pretty old and only ejects cds when it wants to, so you have to really think about what you are going to play, because it's probably going to be in there for awhile (unless you take the faceplate off and get some needle-nosed pliers and gently pull the disc out.) So these have been stuck in there for the last few weeks: Rolling Stones--Goats Head Soup Guns 'N Roses--Use Your Illusion 1 Social Distortion-Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell Monster Magnet--Dopes to Infinity Alice in Chains--Black Gives Way to Blue
Guns 'n Roses - Appetite for Destruction I still have the same CD I got of this at least 15 years ago. Social Distortion - Sex, Love and Rock n Roll A little more rock n' roll. AC/DC - Highway to Hell Touch Too Much is my all-time AC/DC song. Waylon Jennings - Honky Tonk Heroes I can't take a road trip without singing along to every song at least a couple times. Pain - Dancing with the Dead Get my techno and metal fix in Tagtegren's masterpiece.
I too have Sirius, in fact I was the one that got my brother (Primer) hooked on it. For the (relatively) cheap monthly fee, you get kick ass music (what ever genre you want) without commercials and shitty DJs. Then there are the talk shows. Jason Ellis (on Faction, Sirius 28 or something) is hands down the funniest radio you will ever hear. Alt Nation (Sirius 21) plays tons of new bands, months before the terrestrial stations do. Lithium for 90s rock, Sirius XMU for the super indie stuff...this list goes on. If you are even debating getting it, try out the free 7 day online trials, they will hook you instantly. Not to mention, you can listen to it all online from where ever you are, plus there are cellphone apps for that as well.
