Firstly, kudos to the newly knighted mods who are, so far, doing a stellar job. There may arguably be a few "extra" threads bumped, but I attribute that to them not being jaded as of yet, and their keenness and sense of duty are still intact. As far as I'm concerned, I say keep it up, and things will find their stride on their own. It's always been that way with every new crop of mods. As to the WDT, I'm a bit torn... I don't like simplistic bullshit chatter just for the sake of chatter. If the WDT has some interesting, witty, intelligent, even highly tangential (and hopefully controversial) content, I'm all for it being kept open. If it's going to be the same 4 fucktards spewing "oooh look at me I'm so drunk" crap, I could care less. The problem with closing it is that those 4 fucktards will still feel the need to spew their crap and will then leak their shit into the other, more serious threads, which will either require more stringent moderation, or will dilute and derail those threads. In the end, I say keep the WTD thread open, but let's try and improve the quality of drunken debauchery and depravity in that thread. If you're going to be a drunken idiot, then go big and make it a post worthy of the "Best Of" archives. If you're not going to be an off-the-charts drunken idiot, then be smart. Step up your game or STFU... don't waste our time. Think of it like a local bar... entertain and engage me, or fuck off. $0.02
A noble TiB endeavour if I've ever heard one. That's what I'm saying! If you go to the bar every night it gets stale and boring. If you just go on weekends it's a fun place to catch up, fuck around, and look forward to. Anyway, I'll shut up now; I've probably posted 2.5 more times than I should have in this thread, and my opinion has been voiced. Just my humble eight cents.
By the same token, some of my most memorable and enjoyable nights at the bar were on a Tuesday when we went out on a whim. Just because it's open every night doesn't mean you have to go every night.

I think Net has a point, be funny in the WDT. I think the thread has kind of lost that lately. There have been some good conversations, but the conversations more originate with some random thought. Time to bring the funny/interesting back.
It's not so much just being funny, it's being anything but boring. If you're going to be the typical dumb blond with nothing of substance to say, then show us your tits or get the fuck out, because that's all you bring to the table. Otherwise, be witty, smart, interesting, engaging, even more witty, entertaining... but be SOMETHING worth paying attention to.
I voted to keep it open as well. Mostly because my favorite thing about this place is the people and the WDT most resembles an on going b.s. session. I will however cop to the fact that the drunk thread has made, me at least, lazy. In the old board if I found a topic interesting I would really think about it until I either had something interesting to contribute, or I would accept the fact that my opinion had been stated already and just enjoy the discussion. Since the prevalence of drunk thread discussion has occurred I tend to merely glance at other threads and if I don't have something to say right then I won't bother. Which is kind of sad considering I was very excited about the new energy in this place.
Cheeseburger Banana Sloth This whole place is pretty self-correcting. There isn't a lot of Twitter / Facebook stuff unless it happens to fall inline with a conversation, or if there haven't been any posts at all in awhile in the WDT. If it happens, those posters usually get repped or smacked down pretty quick. Until Nettdaddy came back in, it was pretty mod free, yet didn't turn into a disaster. I think everybody here is grown up enough to let a WDT wander around from time-to-time and have it be pretty harmless. Leave it open.
You can't be serious. It's open for a reason, and is they day of the week ends in "y", that is all the excuse one needs. Apply that to the drunk thread as well.
I voted for keeping it open given the fact the way this place works now. There are great posts and ideas that don't tie in to topics, and the argument that it takes away from the other threads is weak given how many threads it creates. Also, Nett, let's be honest, there are only like 5 funny people on this board, and everyone else is entertaining. I'm not one of those 5 people for the record. But I think the thread has been solid in terms of just being a release valve for half-baked thoughts. Plus it acts more like a current events thread half the time as well. There is a lot of "HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THIS SHIT (LINK) ?!?!?!" that we need.
I'm largely a lurker but for what my opinion is worth, I say keep it open. I think this conversation reflects that the WDT is a victim of its own success. I'd say the disproportionately high views/posts in the WDT show that people on this board like having a place to post about random crap. Primarily, that means the WDT draws posters and viewers to the forum. If you closed it down from Monday to Thursday the most likely outcome would be a drop in traffic to the forum. There would definitely be some people like McSmallstuff who would then go out of their way to post in other threads, but I think you'd be more likely to see a small decrease in activity across all threads. The best way to increase activity in other threads would be to get more people suggesting new threads with wide appeal (or just pay RotN to do it full time). Also I agree with xrayvision's suggestion to bring back themes which, at least for the first couple of pages, give the thread a humorous focus.

I like having it open, but I'm fine either way. I find it has the funniest posts and its a good miscellaneous section for the board.
Me too, and I thought I was going to get paid for modding. In titties. Or at least I hoped. In a really 'passive/aggressive never previously enunciated' sort of a way.
