Some crazy shit going on in a nearby town here in Upstate NY. Apparently last week a town highway worker found a homemade bomb of some kind along the road. Called the police, they and the FBI took care of it and launched an investigation. Last night a U-Haul was stopped on a state highway with suspected “hazardous materials” and the suspect arrested. ( God only knows where he was going and what he was transporting. ) This morning they executed a search warrant and found enough “hazardous materials” that they evacuated nearby homes, shut down the area and had to call in more FBI agents and assets from Quantico. The fire department and Red Cross are taking care of the people that have been evacuated and state police said it could take up to 48 hours to clear the scene and open things back up. No clue as to what the materials are, police are being pretty tight lipped. Allegedly this guy was on the radar though, and had been interviewed a couple years ago for some suspicious purchases. The best part? The house where he lives is right across the street from the police station. This shit is crazy.
One thing that I learned is that the fuzz is almost never at home in anything other than large cities. The station is there for paperwork, maybe, and assignments at the start of shift.
Yeah, our police department has a black box with a phone that connects directly to 911. The dispatcher sends an officer to the building if you need one. Our friend had to wait a while when trying to file a police report on her ex husband when broke into her house.
