I was once a pawn between two warring managers. I kept my head down and they both got fired. So it all works out in the end.

This isn’t even two factions of management, it’s co-workers, two of whose are union reps but all of us the same union.

Working there is like being in high school again, if high school drama were taking steroids.

So, screw it, I’ll take the summer off.

Rising through ranks is all about how much shit you're willing to put up with. Some people just want to work and not think about it again, which is reasonable and probably the better choice. No one knows what the fuck they're doing in any position.

We keep having meetings at work about how staff are overworked and there’s more to do than we can manage. And every time I say we need to hire someone new. But has that happened? Womp womp. Everyone suffers from inertia, but one big boss is worried about “efficiency” and the other one is worried about “fit”. I think they should both be more concerned about people quitting

Well, that's it, another school year in the book and now I have two months off, albeit unplanned. I've smoothed things over on my end the best I can and now put it behind me. I was offered summer work once again and I declined, explaining that my wife and I both agree that the best thing for me right now would be to stay away from there for a while. Then in September it'll be a clean slate.

So what to do with all of this time off, that's the thing. I plan on putting together a daily routine that'll include daily exercise, gardening, and writing ( although exactly what, be it essays, short stories, etc. I have no clue ). I've been working on a new website, a locally themed Facebook clone, but I don't want to that to be the focus.

I'd also like to learn ASL better. They can read lips, but seeing the hearing impaired kids' eyes light up when I talk to them in "their language" is pure gold.

Today is just a day to decompress.

You know it was an interesting night when you stumble out of your house at 1 in the afternoon to attempt to cut the grass and your car isn’t there, and it takes a bit to remember where you left it.

Thursday was garage night, Friday I caught a ballgame with a friend, yesterday afternoon we went to a high school grad party and last night we went to a college grad party.

    Today is hangover day.

I suppose this could go in the Rant and Rave section but...

I got under the mower today to see why it's cutting so uneven. Immediately I see that I have a bigger problem than I can fix:

So I threw it in the truck and took it up to the John Deere dealership in Big Flats.

There I was told they wouldn't weld it because it bears weight and no telling how long it would hold. I can get someone to do it, it might hold for two weeks or two years, no telling, but they won't do it. So I decided to order a new mower deck and have a buddy weld it to get me by for now. It sucks, but I need it. They told me $725 and it would ship anywhere from six weeks to six monhs from time of order. However if I want to pay another $200+ freight, they'd put it in as an "emergency" and MAYBE I'll get it sooner, or at least an idea of when it will ship. So we're looking at a throusand dollars and I'll get it when I get it because they're back ordered. John Deere is completely out according to the website.

I told the guy "F--k that, that's almost half the cost of a new mower." He gives me the part number and basically says "good luck."

I've found a couple online, most of them in the $1000-$1200 range. I eventually ordered one for around $900 with shipping and it's supposed to be here in 5-7 business days.

It's always some shit or another.

Find a shop and weld it up. It’ll be fine.

Yeah. Dealership doesn’t want to chance the liability and want to sell you replacement parts, not repair old shit.

Garage night. No school tomorrow. I may need a guide dog to get home. IMG_2025-07-03-193130.jpeg
