I bought four of those big ass cans my first night drinking it, not knowing what I was about to experience. It was a Friday night, by the end of it, I was begging for sleep as the sun came up. My body and mind were not normal the most of the weekend. Too jacked up to sleep, too drunk to function, couldn't go home, had to drink more the next day beacuse... just, because. I was not fit for work that Monday, but I made it somehow.
I tried the four Four Loko challenge and while I some what remember getting hammered, I really remember the taste. Hands down, the worst thing I've ever drank. Absolutely fucking terrible. I do miss the orange Sparxx though. When they banned them, I went around and hit up all the quickie marts and bought them out. If MySpace is still around, there is a pic of a mountain of them on my countertop.
When I was in Japan, @malisbad introduced me to these killer drinks you could get in the local 7/11's, called Strong Zero (I think). Their in-store advertising was basically "if you have 2 or more, you're not making it into work the next day". Challenge accepted. And while I did make it to work the next day after having 3 in the hotel, that day sucked.
I wasn't on the internet much at the time, so I don't remember any particular challenge. It was 2008 when I found the stuff. So, pre-FDA interference, and THAT is the original era that I speak of. The time of the real deal. I was out of Four Loko drinking by the time they toned the drink down after 2010, according to Wikipedia. Yet, even the later, tamer version scared me, after my entanglement with the original. It's a good thing I never thought to combine them with the cocaine.
The Four Loko thing was after my time, and not on my radar at all. But I did jump on the Red Bull and vodka bandwagon with gusto. If you want to level up, I highly recommend Everclear and Red Bull. That shit is rocket fuel.
I don't have it in me anymore to do things like this. A wild night for me is finishing my afternoon half-caff coffee around 6pm. Then drinking four to six strong IPAs, and in bed by 9:30ish. I admire your garage nights, I truly do, but I’m way past my prime, when it comes to drinking.
Three monitors for the win! I've reached the age where I watch golf more than any other sport except maybe football.
I wonder how many of us TiB on an actual computer. I’ve never been on this board on anything but my phone.
