Happy spring folks! March 20, the spring solstice, marks the first day of 2025 spring. A flip was switched in my brain and suddenly I have a lot more spunk.

I'm sitting at the old drugstore having lunch with lil B. We chatted with all the locals and are headed to the park next.

Anyone with hot plans this weekend? I will probably be flexing my power washing skills some more this weekend. I have some rugs that need to get blasted.

Happy Friday! Be safe. Suck a lime after your shot of tequila. It's Vitamin C day, after all.

I plan on going to bed early this evening and taking a bunch of spring cleaning shit to the dump in the morning. Yay old age! (I actually enjoy taking the dog to the dump in the pickup)

And the Japanese F1 is this weekend, and there's a bit of drama going on with Yuki joining Max on the Red Bull team. That will be fun.

I also had a new AI/gaming computer built that just showed up, so I'll be setting it up. (Killer Ryzen 9, 32 core, 256GB, with dual GPUs... it doesn't suck). Should run Cyberpunk (or Solitaire) quite well!

I'll also be cooking a big honkin 4 bone Prime Rib for dinner tomorrow night, along with some Potato Pavé. Looking forward to that more than I should be, to be honest. Considering it's going to be cold and pissing down rain again, it's going to be amazing comfort food I'd say.

I'm also in the mood for some spicy Caesars. So yeah... after a fucking LONG week, this weekend is looking up.

I haven’t a damned clue what I’m doing this weekend. We’re in that period where Spring goes from 70 one day to 35 the next which makes anything more than picking up sticks in the yard a waste of time. Another week of mud could always be just around the corner. And probably will be because it’s supposed to rain all weekend.

Pretty much every creature endeavor I have my hand in is frustrating the shit out of me lately. I feel like I’m just spinning my wheels in the mud. So I’m sure at least a part of the weekend will be spent trying to figure out what to do next. Or drinking.

    Maybe both.

Been forever since I have heard of dual GPUs.

My weekend plans are more renos and in a few i am going to go put some roasts in the smoker. Have 2 eye of round and a strip or sirloin roast that I found in the back of the freezer so I turned them into pastrami.

    No shit.

Today was nice and sunny, but the backyard is a swampy mess due to the 80mm of rain we got in the last couple of days. Never mind temps are dropping this weekend, with snow forecast on Monday.

    Snow.

    WTF.

So yeah, yard work is still on hold for now.

They're fairly high end gpu's meant to be virtually split up for massively parallel operations using a common backplane. More of an AI thing right now than anything gaming.

Our weatherman said the “s-word” when doing his forecast for next week. I may have uttered a half-drunken “Fuck you, Joe,” ( his real name ).

The only good thing is it doesn’t stay long. But the damned mud…

These are 2 NVIDIA A100's that I got a deal on at work, as we were selling off some hardware that we were decommissioning as we consolidate on cloud hardware. They are basically data centre AI hardware that I'm using to heat my office now, while almost being able to play Cyberpunk.

My new pond filter and pump come in Sunday. I'm really excited to set up the duck pond properly. Getting the right type pump is important. I was using utility pumps (with oil) to empty the pond out directly into the garden but I was limping along with my system. Their pond water was always at least a little dirty (usually fouled up), it took a long time to empty, and I've gone through a few pumps. The utility pumps also tend to leak oil if they get burned up.

I'm hoping to just keep the pond clean and suitable for drinking, which will mean fewer water buckets and a drier run. The filter I bought has a nifty crank to squeeze the shit out of the filters when they are saturated. Coolio!

Yeah... we have a shit-ton of cloud based GPU's that we lease from our cloud provider. Hundreds, that each provide up to 32 parallel operations. That's a fuckton of concurrency for our AI processing. You don't want to know the bill on that shit.

For me, a pond pump that is oiless and designed to run continuously. I ended up with this one:

    Screenshot_20250404-174558.png

I really need a swirl filter to prefilter the solids out, and I may add a growbed with some plants to further filter before the water returns to the pons, but these will get me started. I will also need to play around with caging or netting the pump to prevent clogs. The ducks put SO much shit in there, plus pieces of straw and feathers and mud. It's SO MUCH SHIT, GUYS

This is the first system I've bought in over 15 years.
