You folks in the NE will be having some fun this weekend. What did you say, @Juice , y'all are getting 24" or something like that? Sorry for all the canceled plans. Looks like you get to shovel snow instead. Hopefully you are all prepared and can hang out inside, sipping hot coco in front of the fire. We haven't had any more snow this year, but that's ok. You can have it. I did my allotted shoveling for the year already.

    Happy Friday, idiots!

We'll be getting at least a foot and probably more. Went to the grocery/liquor stores yesterday to beat the crowds. Priority 1 once the stom clears will be to shovel the deck so I can grill. The driveway can wait because I won't be going anywhere anyway.

24-30 inches with winds around 50-60 mph. Blizzard warnings were issued about 2 hours ago.

In other news, the 24 hrs of Daytona is this weekend, so there's lots to watch while stuck in side trying to not die from cold.

Let’s not jump to conclusions, she still might be planning to bash the dog’s head in.

A picture of a woman showing her ass out in the snow, and you're looking at a camouflaged dog?

    What happened to you, man?

I guess this is one of those ”if you see the dog you’re gay” pictures.

Or if you don’t see it you’re gay for the ladies in the thread.

It will be down to a crisp -24 C today. By Tuesday it will be +4. Having a trailer has increased our virulent hatred for the winter, as we now have even more reason to wanting it gone.

    What's the coldest temps you've experienced? I guess to the Canadians here. @Nettdata @Dcc001 @Crown Royal @wexton
    I probably left somebody out.

I'm over here at watching cat videos because my child is obsessed. We have 3 main cat egories. Badanamu, some pc game featuring a cat who eventually goes to preschool, and videos from some guy in turkey called Walter Santi. We were discussing how many cats Walter has and I knew before even looking it up based on all the videos we see.

    Fuck! We have dogs, damnit!

Probably gonna have a cat one of these days....

There are two answers for me. The coldest absolute temperature I’ve lived through was -52*C (before windchill) in Calgary. That was one particular evening.

The coldest prolonged temperature was in Winnipeg in 2013/2014. We went 33 days and we were:
    1. The coldest place on the surface of the Earth.
    2. Colder than the surface of Mars.
    3. Never got above -30 once.

Fuck ALL that shit. That winter broke me and I moved to southern Ontario in 2015.

When I lived in the high arctic lowest we got was -30. Windchill was down to about -50. I was out in the field that day trying to draw rock formations. We could work for about 5 minutes at a time before we gave up and drove our snowmobiles around just to use the hand warmers to keep frostbite at bay. One dude still fucked up the tip of his finger with frostbite.

So anyone have tips on how to get a dog to shit in the yard when it is storming out?

Our dog, who lived 5 years outside in the above described weather, shitting in his pen with abandon, now has to walk around the neighborhood to find the perfect spot to plop his loaves down. Tomorrow we are having a storm with 90 km/hr winds, and I would like to just convince him to shit and come back in, but even getting him to piss in our yard was a challenge.

You cannot top the Praries but especially Winnipeg on this side of the planet. When winter comes it sucks beyond the belief of your darkest fantasies. Cold is cold. But once you add wind it becomes murder, and Winnipeg’s winds are Ted Bundy without all the charisma.

Dad was a bush pilot in the arctic. We lived in the Northwest Territories for a few years and it hit the minus 50’s a few times. I remember having to go to school wearing a full face fur mask to protect from frostbite. Nobody shut off their cars/trucks for months. It was dark all the time.
