If there’s any chance of avoiding it, it’s way gone by now. Wife and I haven’t shown any symptoms that we know of. My mild OCD keeps me washing my hands and staying as clear as I can, at least. Our doctor said we likely won’t see any of it, but he did prescribe an antibiotic to make sure it doesn’t turn into strep for the little dude. And I appreciate that, because when we all got strep from the daycare, it knocked us both the fuck out.
@walt I found one in the wild - an AI written book. I bumped into an acquaintance while I was out to lunch and she was reading a book her friend created for her. He "put" her in the book, and himself, and a lot of other familiar things to her life and hobbies. The cover was clearly AI generated as well. I kinda want to read it to see how bad it is, but I barely have time to read books I want to read.
I am seeing so many ads for AI generated covers, "art", books, and music on Fecesbook and it's nauseating. Meta is pushing hard on the AI and it's made it pretty much impossible for someone like me to get my stuff out there. Make an ad and pay to boost it in the hopes more people see it? A large percentage of the hits are likely AI generated accounts and bots. I've kind of given up to be honest. This is me anymore:
Here’s some AI goodness for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/crappymusic/s/bvKdhVHqOQ Obviously the lyrics are just the captions, which is shitty…but the music is super realistic. Like listening to Bill Withers.
I'm currently the Principal Engineer in an AI Org for a video game technology company. We're basically embedding AI tools within our editor to help empower game developers. https://unity.com/products/ai AI is incredibly powerful for doing that. We view it as a tool for an expert to use to do their job better and faster... it's not a replacement for a developer, nor will it ever be. We don't embrace this whole "vibe coding" bullshit. One of the things we're R&D'ing right now is an AI engine that will build a super casual game on the fly. Imagine having some friends join together online, and you describe a game in a few sentences, provide some uploads (like pictures to use, etc), almost like setting up an improv scene, and within a few minutes you get a brand new game that you can all then play together, customized to your group at that time. While we have asset generators as well, we definitely do not see them as a replacement for real artists. Instead, we see them as rough quick placeholders to help build a game demo. You can get surprising results that really flesh out a game, that you can then go back and replace with game-ready assets after the fact. It's like a major level up from simple blocks or shitty wireframes. It's an interesting space, to say the least, and a lot of people are taking advantage of it. My YouTube feed has blown up with bullshit AI-driven clones... and it's nice to see YT starting to identify and censor them (with AI, no doubt... oh, the irony).
No kidding. But who gives a fuck what some LinkedIn In Lunatic thinks? I get so spammed by so-called experts that want to expand my network. I feel like Hank Hill at the Megalomart: “go away, I know more than you.”
I do find it funny how a recruiting guy at Meta has been trying hard to recruit me as Director of AI for a year or so. He can’t fathom that I have zero desire to work at Meta. Ever. Under any circumstances.
Nope. But this is democratizing game dev. It’s the new bullshit ideal. Think YouTube or TikTok for games… shit tons of volume of shit quality content. All there to be monetized in a million different ways.
In the end, I’m not a Product guy… I’m just a techie who gets to play with some cool shit and have fun at scale. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I get at least 10 cold calls a day from my number ending up on LinkedIn at one point. Hate those people.
Because this is an alternate reality from the one where I get paid from. This is the opposite of that.
My company's CEO is doing an AI written book right now. I haven't read much of it, but from what I have read it's mostly drivel and somewhat obviously an AI thing.
