After being to Cuba and trying all the different types of pina coladas available, the best by far are the ones made with dark rum, not light. Adds a very nice, deep flavor you can't touch with light rum.
The first time I ever got drunk was on Pina Coladas, In Acapulco when I was 13 or 14. My dad thought I was getting virgin PC’s because I liked the taste of them, instead the bartender was looooading them with rum, despite the fact I looked even younger for my age the dummy. I was shitfaced. Either of us realized it until we walked halfway back to the hotel and my dad asked why I was high-fiving EVERYONE on the sidewalk. “No, really, what the hell is wrong with you? NEVER go near cops here!!” He soon realized I was drunk, and was pissed for about five seconds before he came to the conclusion that what’s done is done, and walking all the way back to complain is a pain in the ass with some drunk kid.
We were in St Martin and the bartender would get this swirl of dark rum in the glass. Hands down the best Pina Coladas we've ever had. It's my birthday weekend (yay mid 40's) and I have everything to make them etc pineapple juice. A run to the store may be in order. But, Guava Coladas top Pina's 10/10. We couldn't find it in the states so we had some shipped in. I couldn't quite perfect it last time but I do have a bottle left... https://guavaberry.com/products/rums-liqueurs#guavaberry I have a 7lb pork butt on the Egg. Trying a Turbo Butt for the first time. I'll post pics of my meat later. 103* today. Booze, BBQ and pool time are on the agenda.
Shit... I thought it was strawberry moonshine and Lipton peach tea day. My wife is going to be pissed that I lied to her.
Lessons I’ve learned #537 I used to think that every lesson I learned had to be unique and different from the one before it. But then I realized if I changed the wording around, I could send more emails and make it look like I have more lessons than simply “Maybe I’m the problem.” It took me a long time to figure that out. I didn’t want to admit that for a long time. Once I really got this, I had to make many changes.
I’m not sure why I haven’t blocked these emails yet. Maybe I’m still fascinated that someone as fucked up as Tucker feels that he’s a font of wisdom. The one interesting thing in this last one was the news of Bunny’s memoir. I’m tempted to read it, but memoirs/autobiographies/essays on “How my life sucked but I overcame it “ are a dime a dozen. I’m not sure this book, by a “celebrated” artist who designed bookcovers for an Internet personality and people tangentially related to him, is going to have much to offer. Maybe when the lockdown resumes.
I think it’s funny that these emails that all boil down to “I have to accept responsibility for my behavior” are now singing the praises of a book that sounds to me like its message is “I’m not to blame for any of this, it’s my parents’ fault.”
Took me a second to figure out what you were talking about, and then Google showed me the "lessons learned" blog. Holy shit. That has to the ultimate example of "I'm 14 and this is deep" shit I've ever seen.
Bunny’s book is published by Lioncrest - Tucker’s publishing company. Looks like they’ve published quite a few books, mostly of the self help/instructional/memoir variety. Not my cup of tea, and I don’t know how any of the books have sold, but you have to give him credit for launching what appears to be an actual legit business.
From what I recall, it's a vanity press that also does ghostwriting for people who only have an idea for a book. I doubt many of them sell very well.
I wished I never heard of it. After glossing it over I thought I was reading the linear notes to “Jagged Little Pill”.
TM thinks it's going to be quite good: "I'll leave you with this: it'll take a little while, but in a few years this book will be considered one of the defining memoirs of Gen X and will be everywhere. Just watch and see. " Ok LaVar Ball
This coming from the guy who, if I recall correctly, said his movie was going to out gross The Hangover at the box office... I can't wait for the emails in a few years about the lessons he's now learning about book sales and marketing. I'm sure they'll be prophetic.
