Memorial Day weekend. A weekend to commemorate those who gave it all in their service to their country.

It is a somber topic, and even more so when you personally know service members who died in their service.

For many folks, this is a 3 day weekend and a chance to enjoy the 3 B's - Boats, BBQ, and Bikinis.

Maybe it's time for me to get the grill out and grill up some of these red meats we were gifted. I've got some corn on the cob ready to go as well. Weekend, here we come!

Have a fun and safe weekend you guys. Don't do anything stupid on your boat.

First holiday weekend back at the lake since I broke my lake (last July 4th thanks to a dumbass boater going too close to the dock and causing me to think my nieces were drowning).

similar to last time, we are also going on an RV trip, to the same park, a few weeks later. I will not jump into shallow water and regardless if kids need help… I will not jump into water regardless if kids needs help….

So I stopped at my bar earlier to grab a quick beer and kick off the weekend. The parking lot was unusually crowded, but that likely meant I would see a bunch of the regulars.

And I did. Because one of them killed himself last night. And everyone was gravitating to the bar to remember him and grieve.

    Fuck

@Misanthropic oh man, that sucks. I'm sorry that happened and that you found out like that, too.

Well, pour one out for your homie. RIP.

Sorry, man. Did anyone see it coming?

Now that I have a county job, I have Memorial Day off for the first time in years.

It turns out his father knew he was struggling, but his brothers and friends didn’t. Yesterday he was at the bar, seemed to be fine and happy. Then he went home and hung himself.

We all toasted him today @bewildered . That’s likely only the start.

Amber Heard's lawyer ended their closing argument for their counter claim today by saying that they sued for $100 million, but they were actually just trying to make a point, so please give them like 400 grand. That's how they finished their argument.

Well, that's the face of depression for you, isn't it?

I am sitting in a diner in the PNW, listening to Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, eating breakfast. Just...watching it rain. It's a lovely vibe.

    Happy Memorial Day, idiots.

Gotta love Government work, I know I do - hard to beat the benefits.

Pontoon is ready for tomorrow and Monday, got some auxiliary weatherproof USB ports installed on it today along with a shore power passthrough, battery maintainer, some Stealth rod mounts installed.

Boats are affordable, it’s all the other shit that you want to put on them - never ending.

I don't know where else to post this, and have already begun drinking enough to not care. Apologies to my fellow mods.

This afternoon we got a phone call from our son. He and his girlfriend were hiding in a store at our local shopping mall after a report of an active shooter. We kept him on the phone as much as we can, and an approximately 20 minute drive to get there got done in about 10. Thankfully it was unfounded, it was some dumb fuck with an Airsoft gun. I used to work at the mall, and told him how to get out to the parking lot to us. There are no words for the relief I felt seeing the two of them come out to the parking lot.

@walt , so glad to hear it was not a desperate situation.

The thing about living in a what is basically a retirement destination, your kid goes to a neighbor's 80 birthday party. He hated it.

    Dear. God.

This is not a midget, this is an 8 year old, on her 8th birthday. I've played since I was 8 and at no time in my life, not even when I was working as a musician, could I have played what this kid does. YouTube can be a very humbling experience sometimes.

Videos like that are reminders of what a hack I am. I can only dream of making my fingers work like that.

Got a grill for my birthday during the winter, and got a rotisserie attachment. Finally got to use it, turned a damn good chicken for my first attempt. Pairs well with bourbon and ginger ale.
