Today is also National Paloma Day. I've never had this drink before but it is simple and sounds tasty. Tequila, grapefruit soda, limejuice. Can't go wrong with that! Spoiler Ingredients 2 ounces tequila (blanco or reposado) 1/2 ounce lime juice (fresh) 4 ounces grapefruit soda (or enough to fill the glass) Optional: salt (for rim) Give it a try and tell me how it is. I do love a good Paloma and I have fresh grapefruits and limes... maybe I need tequila today? My brother in law is going through a divorce and moved to a condo a few blocks away. This has increased the probability of drunken BBQing by a great deal, especially since that’s happened every weekend since he moved out. It works out because he’s got a freezer full of great steaks he lets me get into and he always calls first to see what alcohol I want, if any.
You mean there’s a drink that combines my love of tequila and my unnatural love of Fresca?!? That’s amazing! Black Cherry Fresca has supposedly been discontinued, and it’s a goddamn shame.

There's a small pub style restaurant that we use to frequent for lunch before all the covid shit went down. I heard that they decided to close but on a whim today I called them to see if I could get something to go and they answered! I put my order in and when I got there, there were 5-6 "regulars" sitting at the bar. Waitress looks at me and says "oh hey, it's you. You can eat here if you'd like. Tall beer like usual?" I got to sit at a restaurant table, get served a cold beer and a sandwich. I imagine this is how people feel when they have their first child.
WRONG! Well the zero version at least, fucking terrible. Burger Kings with the make your own fountains have Surge Zero and it is awesome. So I guess we all have a Fresca fetish? Because I love it too. I thought it was just a regular soda flavor wise. Then I tried the blue berry and strawberry version and they are sparkling water gross and looked and found out the original fresca is a sparkling water too. Certainly doesnt have the dry bitter taste of fucking LaCroix and the like. I picked up some Squirt on your recommendation no blood orange to see. The word 'squirt' is icky shudder inducing in me like the word 'moist' is to everyone. Think it was that dunder headed moron porn star Nick Manning that stuck his fingers in some girl's vergina and then shoved them in her mouth and said, "hell yea, taste your own squirt!" I hope it's now ruined for all of you like it is ruined for me.

I don't get the LaCroix trend. It's punishment to drink one of those nasty things. It has a club soda-y aftertaste and not enough flavor to mask the bitterness. Yeah the name of Squirt is totally gross. I would not have picked up a case of the stuff myself but once I had tried it I was sold. It's a heavier/thicker soda-y taste than Fresca but still. Super tasty.
I didn’t know they even made Fresca still. Or am I getting that confused with something else like Shasta? I haven’t had Squirt in forever. Maybe I’ll grab one. I bet there’s a good mixed drink involving it. I drink way too much Diet Coke. I know it’s bad for me and intend to quit. Probably will replace it with plain old iced tea.
