lol You know it, but it was 2 days ago.

Was planning on making some burgers anyway, so this was just a nice coincidence.

    Highly recommend!

Oh my God... I have all those ingredients....

Zero plans today except making some soap or whatever. The company we hired to paint the house is getting a jump on prep work today. I can't wait to see the facelift on my home. It's going to look so sharp.

If you like 9 ball pool, the final day for the Texas Open is happening. Some of the best players in the world are at this event.

We spent most of the weekend at my daughter’s college. It’s move in time, and even though we had already done most of the moving last month, she wanted us to come down and help with last minute stuff. She’s a senior so it’s her last college move in day, and all of us are a bit melancholy about it. Being the family that we are, college bars, college football and a visit to the city for dinner and drinks took up most of our time.

Saturday night we went into Occupied DC for the aforementioned dinner and drinks. I’ll post more about that experience in the other thread.

Phew. We are home from what amounted to 81 miles of hiking in the last 7 days, of which one was a 29-mile single day with 6k feet of elevation - our longest hike ever.

The bacon jam sounds amazing but I think we're going to resort to take-out tonight lest my feet actually go on strike. I will, however, be making that next time I have burgers.

That is insanely awesome! Killer pic!

And full disclosure, this is where I found the bacon jam recipe.

My recliner has been screwed up for a while now, the backrest leans back too far. Finally one evening a few weeks ago I got curious and I started to investigate why. Turns out the rivets that keep it in place are worn out.

I’ve only had it five years so I was kinda pissed. Then I remembered we bought the extended warranty. After finding the receipt I saw that we bought the chair on July 30 2020.

It was now August 21, 2025.

For some reason I read the warranty coverage papers which said it started five years from the date of delivery. Not the date of purchase. But we didn’t remember when it was delivered. So I called the furniture store and they were happy to look it up.

“It says here the chair was delivered August 22, 2025.”

She transferred me to their warranty people. The lady said she was opening a ticket. I asked her if they were really going to honor the warranty.

“Of course,” she laughed. “You’re still covered for four hours. I’d buy a lottery ticket if I were you.”

The repair guy was here this week and decided it’s not worth trying to fix. We’re going to pick a replacement tomorrow.

    Shit, I posted it already?

Maybe I need to do like Nerds and back away from the internet for a while.

Don't worry, you weren't the only one. I had to go and check and he posted almost the exact same message back in the Rant & Rave thread about 2 weeks ago.

It's an update, people! Y'all cut him some slack. We now know, without doubt, that Walt is getting a new recliner. That was unclear in the original post. Happy for ya, Bud, may your bottom and back be comfortable.

I wish I could say it was. The truth is I thought I’d posted it to a new website I’ve built and trying to build up, which I did. But forgot I’d posted it here as well.

    Jesus Christ…

I’m an idiot, but a consistent one I guess. Well now you know how it ended and hopefully its been good for a laugh!
