I almost totally forgot Labor Day in favor of: Happy National Beach Day! Anyone other than @Nettdata planning a beach trip soon? Summer is drawing to a close and it's a good idea to think about squeezing one more excursion in. Our weather is getting cool again at night. Friends and fam down south are still sweltering, though. I'm sitting in a sushi restaurant with my kiddo who apparently loves sashimi. Not nigiri, don't get it wrong ok? My husband is getting settled in at work so we have somewhat of a routine again. I drive many mornings but don't get locked up in the lab all day anymore. I love riding my bike around for errands and stopping for food on a whim. Happy Friday, idiots. Do you have any plans this weekend? Cooking out, taking time off work, inviting the neighbors over? Maybe we will do ribs in the Traeger. It's been awhile since we had good, juicy, BBQy ribs. Mmmmwe stopped at the wrong restaurant for a bite.
5 mile race on Monday assuming this covid goes away. Wine glasses instead of medals, and free wine. I don't drink but I will absolutely enjoy the free na beer and people watch everyone else get hammered. Then my wife can remember that I'm athletically superior every time she drinks from the wine glass I got her. Going on an Alaskan cruise in a few weeks.
Family reunion on an island with no commercial businesses. It does have everything 15 minutes away so it’s like the bridge to terabithia without the death
Weather is supposed to be beautiful, so we'll be hiking the whole long weekend. Kicked it off today with a short, 9 mile hike up a ridge in the whipping winds. Couple spots on the ridge, the wind was blowing so hard that you'd have to stop walking and wait for it to pass just to make sure you kept your footing. Fun fact: the ridge we hiked today was the same ridge that the Pink Floyd "Learning to Fly" video was shot on. We even found the big cliff from the video. I just can't get into sushi. It's okay and I will eat it. I've even had some sushi that I would say was "pretty good." But at that price point, there are a lot of other things I'd rather have.
@Binary personally love sushi but I'm with you about the price point, plus the ethics of fishing make me usually choose anything else. However, I enjoy exposing my kid to a lot of different foods and ideas, and after a sushi lunch last week lil B was begging for more. It tickles me to see my 4 year old carefully dip raw fish in soy sauce and delicately take bites. Call it dinner and a show, if you will.
My niece (same age) is an adventurous eater and I will also indulge whatever she wants, especially if it's weird for a little kid. They've got a place nearby that does poke bowls and (like sushi) they're okay but not my favorite. But if she wants spicy raw tuna, seaweed and rice for lunch - then let's go get it. She has recently started demanding "hot-toe-ta-doe" (avocado) on random things.
Is there a specific way you are supposed to word AI image generator prompts? I can never get them quite right. Spoiler As for my weekend... well I'm just hanging out at home with a sick kid. Really looking forward to wearing a mask around the house all weekend.
Going to the beach in a few weeks. Just chilling this weekend. Juice, I don't see anything odd about that AI image at all.
I've said here before how we live on this little unpatroled peninsula. Deputies never come here unless they're called because of geography, they have to leave the state and drive about 12 miles and reenter. Realistically, it's at least a half hour drive for deputies to get here, after they've been dispatched, from the areas where they actually patrol. I'm witnessing the consequences of living like this, so far from help. The sheriff's department has a little manhunt going on now. There's this guy breaking into houses and cars. He's been caught on so many security cameras, but they can't find him. He gets such a large head start, he's long gone before deputies get here. He may not even have a car. He walked up to yard sale this morning and purchased a bicycle. They think he's living in the woods, somewhere. I wonder if he figured it out, how long the response time would be in the area, and has planned this little crime spree? Or if he's a typical idiot criminal that stumbled upon a bunch of easy targets?
Police search Signal Hill Park for evidence in Mamta Kafle Bhatt's disappearance This case has made national news, & police searched the park next door to my neighborhood for evidence earlier this evening. Dinner was both my boys repeatedly pointing at the news helicopter meandering over the park & our neighborhood for over an hour. Within 20 minutes of the police closing the park, over 50 cars were parked near the entrance with a growing crowd gathering.
Finally getting over the illness that I had. Two rounds of antibiotics. Turns out that it wasn't covid, but was instead pneumonia. I think my favourite part is being able to exhale without having the sound of bubbling fluids coming up from my lungs ringing in my ears. Last weekend (mostly) without my family here after they've spend 5 weeks back in Canada and I mostly want to rest and paint miniatures, but I've committed to covering the social obligations that I bailed out on because I was sick.
Who is that on the left? Tom Musk? Elon Hanks? I am finally back from working in the field since the middle of May. My department got a shitload of money and I had to use it up. Lots of physical labor out in the woods, and I have earned 190 hours of comp time that I have to use up so I am taking a 6 day weekend. In any case tonight we are going to an 80s themed event. What percentage of guys do you think will be lazy and simply do Tom Cruise in Risky Business? I am guessing over half.
Yeah that's what I've heard. Apparently you can only get Midjourney from some Discord server or something. I'll check it out today to see what's what. Was supposed to be PeeWee Herman.
