I am tragically at the outset of a diet to try to shave some weight before ski season. I ate a lb of brussel sprouts today.

I can only imagine you cramping up and farting up a storm for the next 2 days.

People keep saying that, but I don't think there's that much fiber in brussel sprouts. It's got less than half the fiber, by weight, that Grape Nuts has.

You know there are other vegetables, right? Brussies aren’t bad, but a pound a day of the same food 2 days in a row sounds wild.

May I suggest a bag of French beans sautéed in sesame oil with an aggressive amount of garlic and Szechuan pepper? Or perhaps a pile of grilled asparagus with soy butter sauce? Maybe a nice arugula salad with some lentils and tomatoes and goat cheese?

Brussel sprouts are horrific. What is wrong with all of you.

My new go-to vegetable side dish that I make is celery root mash. Cut it up like a potato, mash it with some minced fennel and use as a bed for braised short ribs. Way healthier than polenta, etc.

When drizzled with some olive oil and roasted in the oven, they’re amazing.

When they’re roasted to almost crispy, and drizzled with some W sauce or balsamic, they are quite tasty indeed.

Don't forget to mix in at least a full pound of chopped bacon while you're at it.
