That photo is actually toned down from what it could have been several years ago. That white truck used to be so high off the ground it could easily run over typical cars. The guy needed a daily driver, so he lowered it a few feet.
Thanks dude. I loved the old gig but it soured fast. It’s amazing how fast it can actually happen with one key guy being replaced. New gig should be a lot of fun though, so at least there’s that.
I don't understand why you haven't taken your IPO money and fucked off out of the corporate workplace forever.
Redneck roots run deep in me. Here is a backyard grill set up complete with construction lumber for fuel, random wire grate to cook on and the hog that my dad shot in the backyard that morning. The other pic is the hunting buggy that he and his friends built.
You're definitely in the club, I just think you may have been out of the area for too long, in California. You may not be current on your skills or qualifications. Have you killed anything for the purpose eating in the last few years? Have you at least drank a cheap american light beer, or boxed wine? Surely you've raised a little hell in the vette, which is likely enough to keep you current in our organization?
Because I still enjoy what I do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I get a ton of PTO a year to go relax but in the end, I’m not working that hard, and my RSU’s are worth mid 7 figures. Hard to walk away from that.
Sooo... I be drunk. And FUCK Uber Eats. They make it way too fucking easy to order a big burrito and a couple of empenadas. Here in 4 minutes. sigh
I am not drunk, but I did just eat a giant fetus sized burrito, and I am laying on the floor. Burritos unit!
my favorite burrito place back in Nashville was celebrating their 25th anniversary yesterday, with $0.25 burritos. I tried to see if anybody would ship me $5.00 worth.
I bet when they vest that decision gets easier. That's how my current placed suckers me into sticking around. No where near C-suite level of RSUs, but enough to make me suck up the shittiest parts.
The reality is that my current job isn't really all that much work. It's more about pointing people in the right direction and leveraging my decades of experience to point out shit they've never thought of. I'll dig into some POC's every now and then to keep up with what's going on, and do the occasional cherry-picked PR to keep the illusion going, and some fancy C4 diagrams when needed, but it's not hard work. Most days I spend a few hours watching YouTube, playing games, and attend a fair number of Zoom calls. I also bail an hour early to go pick up my dog. (WFH is great). The hardest thing I have to do is coordinate large groups for complex rollouts or other deployments, and really, that's just my natural skill set. Don't get me wrong, this will probably be my last job, unless I get sucked into some VC work with some friends, but it's a no-brainer to stick around right now, even with the occasional bullshit like this.
