Happy Beer Day! Pop a top tonight. Cheers, idiots. The weather is warm and certainly perfect for a porch beer. I sure do miss my easy to find Yuengling. What will you be enjoying this afternoon? Try as I might, I have never gotten into IPAs. They are too heavy and finish too bitter and metallicy. If you have a favorite that you think is good, do share. I'm always ready to challenge my notions about something. "sexy bartenders" from Bad Girl Productions. This is a porno, isn't it? Happy Friday you guys. Any hot plans?
My brother's wife got left a ton of money by her great-uncle. It was out of the blue for her, she had no idea. It was one of those situations where the man's own children and grandchildren were assholes, so he left an air tight will where they get $1,000 and his great-niece gets a windfall. There's a lesson here, and it's don't be a dick.
I've always been really heavy into the IPAs; moreso the hazy New England style over the west coast style, but more and more recently I've really found myself getting into sours for some reason. The more sour the better. Regardless, we're packing up the Jeep and trekking down to the Outer Banks for a week where they unfortunately have a pronounced lack of good beer, so I might just have to get drunk off vodka all week instead.
I don't know if anyone carries it in your neck of the woods, but try Terrapin Hopsecutioner. It doesn't finish bitter. IPA snobs criticize for exactly that reason. It's been commercialized now that it's owned by Miller-Coors, but they've get the flavor profile since it was started in Athens, GA. It's about the only IPA I ever drink.
I have to say, grapefruit raddlers are the best camping beer ever. They are the perfect breakfast beer. You can pop 2-3 of them when you wake up and you feel like a responsible adult for having your daily dose of vitamin C, and then some. Plus I find I can drink way more of those than normal beers... they're just refreshing. In the winter, I'm into 12% porters and beers so dark and thick they are a loaf of bread in a glass. In the summer, I quite enjoy negra modelo... do some yardwork in the summer heat and humidity, and 2-3 of those go down in a blink of an eye.
Fuck beer; I’m never drinking beer again. I got back from a bachelor party 4 days ago and I still haven’t fully recovered. I think mild retardation might be my new normal.
Ive always mildly detested beer. Never got into the micro brew stuff though Ive tried a lot. The bitter taste of the hops kills the taste enjoyment for me on just about every style of beer. Sours are alright but if you are drinking to get drunk (the only reason I drink anything with alcohol in it) they make me feel too bloated after a few. Once Seltzers blew up I switched to them as they are more palatable (and lower carb/calorie). I prefer the premade flavored vodka sodas that have come out as it doesnt have the acrid taste of seltzer water.
Since moving to Japan, I've been very, very partial to the "highball". It's literally whisky, soda, and some lemon slices in glass. It comes in different strengths from 5% - 9% generally, and you can get sizes at places from a tom collins glass all the way to a fuck off 1.5L jug. You can get 335mL and 500mL cans in the local convenience stores, and they retail for 120 - 200 JPY. The hangovers are WAY lighter when you're taking your whisky with a couple hundred mils of soda.
I've discovered a new pet peeve. I hate it when people touch the block of cheese to grate it. I leave the end of it in original plastic wrapper and hold that to shred. Touching cheese is a recipe for mold. Don't touch my cheese!!
I love how you didn't even begin to talk about the Mega Highball. They go incredibly well with those chicken wings.
I think I'm getting my Asian drinks mixed up, maybe this is S Korean? We used to get these highball glasses that were fizzy fruity liquor and they would get you fucked the fuck up. Used to order them at Gyu Kaku in Hawaii. * Edit now who's the retard now? Definitely Japanese. Is this the drink y'all are talking about? Shochu
Sochu is popular in Japan, but I'm not a fan. First night there, out with clients, they made a big deal of ordering a few different types at a private sushi place... and I wasn't a fan. All the while @malisbad was sitting in the corner whining about wanting to go for McDonald's. (Someone doesn't like fish). Regardless, Umeshu, a plum based liquor, is SUPER tasty. I picked some up at the duty free ever time, and it never lasted long.
