Happy Beer Day! What's in your fridge? I have a super random assortment currently because we drank all the regular stuff. This is stuff other people left here. Might be time to chunk some of it. That cider has been in there for ages. I think the St. Bernard Abbey trappist beer is supposed to be drank at room temp. At least we didn't screw up on the big bottle. Have a good weekend everybody. I am excited that our temps are peaking in the upper 80s this weekend. Now if the air pollution from fires will calm down we'll be cookin'.
That’s a nice assortment you have there. I’ve got a couple of small batch bourbon barrel aged stouts, some banana bread beer I don’t like so never finished, a couple of semi-local NY beers, a great cranberry shandy from Cape May brewing, and my lawn-mowin’ beer , MGD.
One Mickey's Fine Malt Liquor, one Dos Equis and about five Shock Tops. Might drink all of those Sunday between a boat ride and a cookout afterwards. I wish there were some tequila in the house, been about six months since I did some tequila shots and I'm craving it for some reason.
I have a bunch of beers from a brewery in Montana that I passed by this past week while attending a memorial service - I've gone there every time I've passed through Missoula and their beers are exceptional. And an assortment of other random beers from the PNW area which I haven't gotten around to trying yet.
This is a serious emergency. I don't drink as much beer as I used to. Most of the time, I drink one 24 ounce Natural Ice, and then start on red wine. Come to think of it, it's about that time now...
I think I have what's left of a 12-pack of Shiners in the fridge. I like lagers and dislike IPAs. Guess which segment of the market lost all of its shelf space to the trendy new seltzers? I can't even find Brooklyn Lager, and the Great Lakes Dortmunder (from Cleveland) is only available in 6-packs of cans.
Same. We usually keep dos xx lager in the fridge because that's about the only one I can get on a grocery pickup, but there's a ton of IPAs available. The IPAs in my pic are what are left from a variety pack that we regretted purchasing.
I do have 2 5 litre jugs of sangria brewing, and 2 wine fridges full of a variety of reds, whites, roses, and sparkling. I also have a ton if hard stuff. I think I’ll be fine on the “get buzzed/hammered” front for quite a while.
How long does that stuff last, safely? I have a couple jars I think I made 2 years ago that got lost in the back of the fridge. They look fizzy and the jar buttons are down/sealed.
Smell it. If it's rancid, then I wouldn't drink it, but with the amount of booze/sugar/fruit I put into it, it ferments and gets potent, and I've been known to let it sit in the fridge for 3 months or so without issue. Hell, "vintage" sangria is the holy grail... incredibly hard to come by, because usually it's been drunk well before then. But 2 years? Can't say.
I switched to liquor and White Claws and I dont think Im ever going back. At least the memes have come around to mock what we all knew about IPAs.
Ok. I wasn't sure what signs to look for, but rancid sounds right. Obviously molds and such are clearly a no-go.
Or just fucking try it. For science. And report back how it went! Worst case you didn't get COVID... best case, you had sangria!
In my fridge downstairs is: A few Guinness, some Saranac Blueberry Blond, Long Trail Ale, and a Yuengling lager or two. I’m trying not to drink as much beer because I’m already a fat ass, but I have to have some now and then. My go to drink is often a lime ricky right now ( gin, Diet 7 up and a lime ).
I like Brooklyn lager also. See if you can find Blue Point toasted lager. That’s a decent lager made on Long Island.
