Yeah, fuck HOAs. I think I posted about it before, my parents were in one briefly and it was miserable for them. My dad fucked with them by putting up a 70 foot HAM radio antenna and they couldn’t do anything about it.
I look at HOA’s from afar and think “Who the fuck would involve themselves in something like that?” Letting some dipshit neighbour hold sway over where you live? And the ridiculous bylaws and fines they come up with? I know nothing of them up here, heck Im not sure if they even exist in this city with the exception of a Golf community up near where I live. I wouldn’t be able to handle it. I would end up declaring war on these people.
Not really, I still have plenty of food/water and I didn’t have to worry about my daughter, so I came out pretty ok. Other than a shiner I got from a falling branch cutting down trees and the fact that my arms got cut up quite a bit from the hurricane clean up you wouldn’t know anything had happened by looking at me. Then again, I got incredibly lucky house-wise. Only one big pine tree fell in my back yard, and miraculously landed in the exact spot that caused no damage to my property. Other than very minor damage to the side of the house when pine cones were basically missiles and a minor roof leak my house is unscathed. Literally everyone I know has had more damage to their houses(some not by much, others with roofs torn off). So I guess long answer short is nothing I can think of differently, but I got so lucky it’s hard to say. I would have had to handle things differently if say, I lost power for a week(like most of my friends) or if that trees landed 20 degrees to the right and went through my porch/sunroom/living room.
Changing the subject here, but does anyone have copies of the articles Philalawyer did on bourbon/gin/etc? His site has been dead for years, he hasn't been on this board since 2010, and my GoogleFu is not turning up much. I liked reading them, did NOT copy them anywhere, should have.
