    Hurricane party in the hizzy! Some of you idiots recently traveled to Florida and some of you live there. What's your prep style as you hunker down for this Cat 1 or 2 'cane?

    Right now it looks like it’s gonna stay off shore, where it would continue to gain strength and fuck the east coast of Florida. Kinda a worst case scenario, but it would need to seriously intensify in the next 24 hours to be more than a cat 1 or 2. I was hoping it would make landfall around the Miami area and just die out over land. We’re on the gulf coast side so I’m not overly concerned right now. Wind 25-50 mph and rain if I were to bet, or it could be sunny and 98 tomorrow like it is right now and I wouldn’t be surprised.

    unfortunately, with the combination of wind coming from the sw, a high over the Bermuda area, and a dip in the jet stream there are so many steering factors that it’s truly hard to predict the path right now, even for the experts. If I was living in the Carolinas and Virginia I would be very scared, and making preparations for significant flooding

    Guess who’s leaving for Jacksonville Florida tonight? That’s right, it’s gonna be a fucking Hurricane vacation, house is right on the damn beach too.

    First time riding out a hurricane myself, father in law was passed out and doesn’t remember Hurricane Andrew, he was living 100 miles from shore at the time, in a fucking single wide. Woke up to half his roof missing.

    Needless to say we are well stocked on booze.

    I wonder the most commonly forgotten emergency item is for most people?

    I overheard one of my female colleagues complaining about leaving her vibrator charger. THAT has to be a frustrating evening.

    Tracking it as a Cat 1 right now, with 75-95 mph winds. If you're there, have a flooding plan. Shit might break, shit WILL get wet. Pump, wet/dry vac, lots of old laundry, etc.

    How old is the house? Specifically how old are the windows and the roof?

    I’m currently sitting on the beach shark fishing, I actually get service out here. Is everyone in Florida or something? We plan to leave tomorrow. But the way my brother drags ass we’ll probably have to hunker down and leave after it passes. I burned up all my left over vacation from last year and the first week of this year. I was stressing the fuck out about it but realized in the end my job isn’t going to give a rats ass if I have to take a few non vacation days off given the situation. Hell it’d be nice to have to quarantine for a week when I get back. I was hanging out with two people that just tested positive for the anti bodies.

    Yup, we’re all in Florida right now. Just shootin the shit giving each other the covid via the internets.

    I’d be less concerned about how long you have to hang out here and more concerned about if where you’re going home to is flooded out. This thing is gonna be a major rain event I suspect.
