There's a hint of coolness in the mornings, and it is actually raining here today. Summer is drawing to a close and the town is holding a harvest festival. We will not be attending but are enjoying the fruits of my labor from over the summer. I have chili on the stove and will be processing tons of peppers and tomatoes. I'll be making cowboy candy, jarring roasted anaheims, and broiling tomatoes to peel and freeze for later. I'm also super stoked to decorate for fall. Ceramic pumpkins and themed blankets everywhere. I'm so ready to turn on the fireplace. Cowgirl, I guess? Are any of you enjoying a seasonal switch of gears or are you still sitting with swamp ass in the summer that never ends? Happy Friday, y'all. Have fun, be safe, and @Nettdata , I need to see more of that collection you just acquired. Don't drink it all before your guests arrive!
My parents are in the middle of tearing down an addition to their house that was built in the 60s and replacing it with a larger room. We did demolition, floor joists, and framed in the walls last weekend, and I'm driving up again tomorrow morning to hopefully get most of the roof done and get everything reasonably weathertight. The weather was awesome last week, but this weekend is supposed to be hot as satan's balls.
It rained last night for the first time since March. It was sprinkling this morning when I went outside to my truck. Already over it.
OVER IT?! It's the first time it's rained since probably around the same time for you, and if it made it rain more, I would do embarrassing rain dances outside, in public, with or without clothes, whatever was necessary.
So this is an interesting Friday. The school my buddy works at was evacuated due to an unspecified threat today, the guy we usually use for tree cutting/pruning has been arrested for trying to blow up his ex-wife’s boyfriend’s truck, and I’ll be at a high school football game tonight putting on a happy face and trying to be supportive while a friend and neighbor talks about living with the likelihood she’ll be dead in 12 months from a glioblastoma. Just another fun day in this neck of the woods.
WTF you can have some of our rain if you like. We’ve gotten over 40 inches of rain this year and there’s still almost 4 months left. I’d like to go a week without an insane downpour.
A local liquor store (that was housed in an old gas station) got bought out by Casey’s (and is going to be turned back into an actual gas station). Nothing like an impromptu half-price liquor sale!
10th grade geometry, getting detention because my teacher was angry I disrupted the lesson by the suggestion that we watch the current events unfold that she wasn’t aware was happening yet.
