    So today I learned that a few years ago the Texas waterpark chain Schlitterbahn opened a new location in Kansas. In doing so, they petitioned the Kansas Legislature to pass a law relaxing the safety inspection regulations for the park, and then rewarded the compliant legislators by inviting them to come to the park for free.

    ...at which point their flagship ride decapitated the 10 year old son of a legislator because it had been improperly designed and tested.

    You know it.

    But, like any good 60 year-old, the Airstream is now in the driveway (picked it up out of storage today), and the plan is to fuck off on Saturday to drive out West, to a mountain lake in BC. Rendezvousing with a few friend at our yearly fishing lodge, and plan on being on the road for about 3-4 weeks. Will wing it on the way out, then meander my way back. Putting that whole "drive to a park, set up Starlink, then work for a few days" thing to the test.

    We'll see how it goes.
