Happy August, y'all. Around here we are in the midst of summer highs, but at least it is dry heat. It is time to run in the sprinkler and smoke some BBQ. I have goodies rolling in from the garden for plenty of rich red sauce, stirfrys and salads these days. How are you spending your time in the summer heat? Down south the humidity was oppressive so peak heat times were spent indoors, otherwise I'd be swimming in my own sweat. It got so bad one day that we took a trip down to the corner gas station's walk in beer cooler. Bliss. Good Friday to you, idiots.
Dog sitting at my friends place....she describes them as beautiful idiots. Kombucha tastes like drinking a bath bomb. A used bath bomb. Tropical storm Kyle just set a record for the earliest K storm, beating Katrina by ten days. Also, whole foods had carrot ketchup. I am so confused, white people. So so confused
Shit, we're already in the Ks?! I guess I'll have to wait until next year to have a hurricane named after me.
That feeling when you list your busted sedan for sale and get double digit inquiries within a couple hours and sell it immediately.... I should have listed it for more.
Yeah, probably in shallow left field of the closest softball diamond. They’re cute, but they’re pests. Weird he’s in a backyard, they usually like open places like golf courses.
@SouthernIdiot I know the value of it in a general sense but it was not running and was a 2005 model. Older not running cars have very subjective values. The timing belt tensioner broke which caused the timing belt to slip which probably damaged the engine. It also needed a new exhaust manifold. Also, age. Just having those two things fixed without any engine damage factored in was almost the value of the car, and what might break in the next couple years? The part I did not factor in is that the used car market here is very strong and there are a lot of handy people who like to work on cars here. The man who bought it was Hispanic and there was a major language barrier but he bought it on a chance. He definitely did not understand everything we were describing. there is also the aspect that we are down to one vehicle with an infant during a pandemic so my ability and interest in stringing this along to get more money out of it is low. I'm just going to stop dwelling on this. Drinks! Boobs! Yeah!
This spring/summer I have rediscovered my love of whiskey sours. My wife got me a cocktail book for Christmas and when I finally started flipping through it reminded how good they are. Great simple cocktail. I will have one more and then pass out.
When I first ended up back down here, I was looking for a different vehicle and I didn't have a lot of money. My brother in law warned me "Don't buy a vehicle from a Hispanic. They're very good with mechanics and they'll get every mile out of a vehicle they can. If they're selling it, it's beyond fixing."
There's a really big Hispanic population here. It's kind of sad, there are a lot of Hispanics here who prey on the ones who are new to the country since they have knowledge of the area and can break the language barrier. These people will scam the newbies and among other things sell them shitty mostly broken cars to make a quick buck. There are several really shady used car lots right outside of town that target new immigrants.
