    I'm starting to think it was total BS. He said the sound woke up him and the neighbors. But yet the pipe remained intact? And doesn't that noise indicate there would be combustion somewhere? Or at least some type of rapid release of pressure?

    Also there's no way there would be an *explosion* (of some type) that loud in a neighborhood and cops wouldn't be called. Hell a few days ago I was sighting in my AR pistol, has an 11.5 inch barrel so it's insanely loud, and neighbors a half mile away were asking about it. It was because they knew what it was and wanted to shoot it, but still, they heard it.
