Yes, but not to Carpenter’s liking. It pales in comparison to the original along with every sequel except “H20” which was really good (and starred Curtis). What you are seeing here is a new kind of sequel. When great original films are sullied by turning it into a money-grab franchise with new, less talented writers and directors, a film like this is made to basically say “This is how it was SUPPOSED to be done.” James Cameron is reported to be doing this with The Terminator and T2: taking back his movies with a proper conclusion.
Ill believe the T2 sequel when I see it, literally. Hes trotted out for every sequel since T3 and gives it his endorsement, and they've all been piles of shit. IIRC, Halloween 3 had nothing to do with anything, and the Thorn trilogy (4-6) wasnt all the terrible. H20 and Resurrection were abortions though.

Absolutely... can't wait for it to come out. I don't watch many movies in the theatre lately, but I think this will be one of them.
For as HUUUUGE as this is going to be, for a movie that comes out in March, this seems like the perfect first look trailer - doesn't reveal any plot, good teases for other bits, etc. For it to have legs, it'll need to actually be good, but the opening weekend is going to be a monster.

That looks like a great movie, I’m think it’s awesome he’s using his frailty towards role instead of always being the glowering tough guy everyone loved him for. He can’t be Dirty Harry anymore. But then again, nobody can replace him.
