Oh, yeah, this doesn't look freaky at all.
Yeah, that's definitely a Cronenberg movie.
Weird. Cronenberg already made a movie called “Crimes Of The Future” that has nothing to do with this one.
No director alive can drive you up the wall the way he can, and that trailer has his thumbprint all over it. Cronenberg simply does not give a fuck, especially while doing the genre he invented. His name is synonymous with the word “gross”.
He gets off on the walkouts and the fold-up seats making the clacking noise.
It's good to see Cronenberg getting back to horror movies; the last few non-horror movies he's done kinda sucked ("Cosmopolis, " anyone?).
He made a couple of GREAT crime thrillers (History Of Violence, Eastern Promises) in that span, though. I would have liked to see more of that.
This is the guy who made Shivers, The Brood, Videodrome, The Fly and Naked Lunch (just for starters). When he says “I may have gone too far this time”…… he makes films that once you see them, you can’t unsee them.
…And his son is a chip off the old block: very original movies, and VERY hard to watch.
I've been to two IMAX films, the Whales documentary and the NASCAR one, like 15 years ago or something? But, I've got my tickets for Top Gun: Maverick IMAX special event preview for Tuesday May 24. (Geez, IMAX tickets are pricey - no wonder I never want to pay for that.) Anyway, if you're excited for this one, there are a lot of theatres doing the Tuesday preview event, so check your local listings.
Me too... Fires Of Kuwait (which was mind blowing) and Hail Columbia.
This in IMAX was a next level experience... you could almost feel the heat.
Top Gun: Maverick has a 96% rating on RT? Damn. I may have to actually go back to the theater for this one.
Well, I got the booster for a reason I guess. I'll wear a good mask and go when the theater isn't crowded.
Guess I'll need to rewatch the original one which I haven't seen since the 80's
It’s so different watching the first one as an adult rather than a kid. As a kid it was the epitome of cool. Watching as an adult it has “cult film” written all over it. It’s not bad, but obviously this was a time when entertainment always trumped realism.
It was a product of its time if there ever was one, well-made and fun. And a legendary contemporary soundtrack.
It's a glorified Air Force recruitment ad. And it's entertaining as hell.
Edit: Navy, I forgot they were carrier based.
It is also one of the gayest films ever made.
This could not be more epic: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/christopher-walken-dune-two-1235144841/
How the hell does Family Camp get a theatrical release (900 theatres this weekend!) instead of being dumped to Prime / Peacock / Roku or some TV movie? If it was this script with recognizable actors, I could see it, I guess, but when it's dumb AND it's no-names? Weird.
I was already all in for the second movie. It just keeps getting better.
Not a lot of kids movies out, and summer vacation is starting for some folks...?
In the original they flew F-14 Tomcats. The Navy officially retired the F-14 15 years ago. Fuck I'm getting old.
