Im glad they didnt make Carl lose his hand. Him with an eye patch and a stump would be pretty hilarious.

Did anybody make bug-eyed Glenn into a meme yet? Because knowing it was just pretend is how I got through that tough scene.

I mean I like how they actually went through with killing off one of the most intergral parts of the original group. Wasnt sure the show had it in em since the multi week cliffhanger last season with Glenn. I did role my eyes a bit that they stretched the season finale's cliffhanger out until like the 5th commercial break. I didn't really buy Negan using Daryl as leverage against the group. Makes more sense to break their wills using Coral as they'd be much less inclined to attempt a rescue/retribution if their leader's son is being held by a straight sociopath. Hate to see Abraham go too, he was one of the few characters I didn't actively hate. I guess I'll keep watching.

So I guess they filmed each character getting beaten by Negan so that the cast wouldnt know who it was going to be either right away. Heres a (potato-quality) leak of Maggie getting killed:

Yeah I had kinda guessed that as much footage as you saw in the first episode of each person taking a hit.

Did they film all this back when they shot the season finale, or new for this season, I wonder? They may have also compiled various footage like this for Rick's "imagine what could happen" scenes.

Not sure - all I know is what popped up on Reddit. But Im guessing the other scenes will be released at some point. It was always going to be Glenn and Abraham. Abraham was already dead in the comics at this point and this was the defining point where Glenn was killed off. Maggie dying would have changed a lot of the future storyline in a big way because she becomes a more major character than she already is.

I feel like at some point you'd up your sniper skill game and off these megalomaniac psycho killer leaders.

The word on the interwebs months ago was that they filmed every character in that lineup getting Lucille'd. Back then we thought it was for leak/distraction purposes. Now, I think 1 or 2 were for that, while the rest were just coverage for the flash of Rick seeing everyone dying in his head.

Jerry is my new favorite character. Between Negan's psychotic sense of humor and Jerry's comic relief one-liners, at least there will be some laughs amongst the terror this season. It looks like they're going to continue the pattern of splitting up the cast for each episode, though, so we'll only hear from Rick, Maggie et al every 2-3 weeks. They're probably going to give us a whole episode of Darryl sitting in a cell feeling guilty about Glenn's death, though, using the "Morgan in a cabin" blueprint.

I'm so conflicted about going back to this far-flung characters, multiple storylines arrangement that they've done in the past. On the one hand, I think narrowing the focus each episode allows for some much better story-telling on a smaller scale, and better character development. I'm probably in the minority where I actually like the quieter more human stories they dabble in sometimes (as long as it doesn't get too melodramatic) and most of my favorite episodes have been where they narrow it down to just a few characters outside of the main action of the group. They end up being a bit more cinematic. But, on the other hand, it gets overwhelming, and now they're piling more stuff on than ever before. There are maybe two too many groups of people and locales for me to actually commit to caring about any one of them. Plus, it really weakens the overall tension and progression of the larger story at hand. I don't even remember what's happening at Alexandria right now anymore, but we're also supposed to be following Rick's group doing I'm not sure what yet, Morgan and Ezekiel at the Kingdom, Carol kind of half-assing going off and doing her own thing (which feels like a little kid running away and going off to live on their own right on the outskirts of their parents' property), Daryl and Negan and the Warriors, and I think also Maggie on her own little mission? It's just a lot.

They have such a talented cast, it's definitely enjoyable to watch them. But, I still think they could do both. Since the characters are split, I don't see why they couldn't go back and forth. Instead of 1 show featuring 1 group and 1 show featuring the other, they could edit it so 2 shows features half the stuff with each group. As you wrote, it's a lot. I don't enjoy it as much not being able to keep up.

There are the first episodes of the season sitting in my XBMC library and I can't bring myself to watch. I... I survived the farm, the prison, the Governor and I just can't find it in myself to give a fuck anymore. I want to, I really want to given that I have watched religiously but I'm done with them fucking with me, leaving me hanging - just giving me half a season. I can't do it.

Ok. I recommend that you don't watch anymore then. Besides, now that they've already happened, you don't have any of the suspense of Darryl making Glenn get his head bashed in, or watching Abraham saying "suck my nuts," getting his head bashed in, or finding out that Ezekiel is just a zoo keeper / theatre actor playing a part. Enjoy the years you watched and move on.

Oh, goody. The cast groups will rotate every three episodes, then. And, I thought last night's episode was just average.

The Talking Dead is making it seem like the Judith Baby Daddy scene was this huge reveal, but from what I can remember it was always kind of obvious it was probably Shane's? Or was it supposed to be totally ambiguous? To me that moment was a couple seasons too late.
