Has anyone else seen it on AMC yet? By far the best horror TV show I’ve ever seen. The story and atmosphere are full of dread and the characters are well written. It’s like the opposite of Walking Dead.

The plot is a British explorer ship is stranded in the Arctic Circle and is stalked by a monster. Well worth checking out.

We watched the first two episodes and got hooked. But we put it on the backburner until we're caught up with our other shows. Glad to hear it's worth watching!

You guys notice how often the actors from HBO's old, great series Rome pop up in the same projects? It happens a ton.

I had liked what I saw in the previews for The Terror, I will definitely watch it asap.

I went out and bought the book today, been watching it since it started. The acting is stellar for the entire cast, which helps me forgive some of the hokey-ness of some of the effects (I mean, of course they aren't in the Canadian Arctic, but it obviously looks like a sound stage at some points). Plus, I've always been really interested in the Franklin Expedition, so it's cool to see how they combine it with what little recorded history there is of it.

This show is so fucking good.
I finished the novel, which was also really good, but there's no discussion about "better" because they diverge from the source material just enough to make the whole series its own unique story.

And Jared Harris gets better and better each episode.

Also, if you've been watching it, binge all the episodes again. A whole lot of details start to come out.
The entire "Carnivale" party they hold is symbolic of upcoming stuff - Crozier walks through and finds Goodsir talking to the doctors about the lead poisoning, A sailor bumps into Crozier and spills on him with little respect (mutiny), they show a sailor massaging the brain-dead sailor's throat to give him a drink (Fitzjames's death), and then a room with a cauldron of hot water with men in it (cannibalism).

Agreed. This is one of my favorite shows now. Does not get the credit it deserves.

With a quick Google search, it appears that it's just going to be one season? Can anyone confirm/deny?

I think so. It was advertised as an "event" and not a series when the previews came out, and it's at the end of the original novel's story with one episode left. If it continues, they'll be making up their own thing after this season.

I have no problem at all with that... I really like it when they have a solid story that is told, and then they stop... no trying to milk it for all it's worth until it's turned into a piece of shit.

BBC is really good at that... they have some solid 6-episode shows that are one-off events, and they are amazing.

Has anybody been watching this season? I’m enjoying it, but not as much as the first season. I feel like they are getting the overall attitude and stoicism of the Japanese culture correct, though.
