Re: The Official TiB Fantasy Football Thread 2010

    Hi
I'm relatively new here, and I just wanted some opinions on my team.
It's a standard-scoring 14-team Yahoo league (4 pts for passing TD, 6 for rushing, no PPR). I had the second overall pick which didn't thrill me

    QB-Joe Flacco
    RB-Adrian Peterson
    RB-Jamaal Charles
    WR-Greg Jennings
    WR-Santana Moss
    WR-Malcom Floyd
    TE-Jermichael Finley
    K-David Buehler
    DEF-Chicago

    Bench
    Mike Williams-WR
    Darren McFadden-RB
    LaDainan Tomlinson-RB
    Donald Brown-RB
    Leon Washington-RB
    Devery Henderson-WR

Obviously my WR cops is the weakest part of my team I think. I had a chance to pick Dez Bryant, but at that point I didn't have a QB, and it would be 14 picks until my next one, so I picked Flacco. Good thing too, cuz there was a mini-run and Ryan, McNabb, Kolb, Palmer, Favre all went before my next pick. I also almost had a chance to grab Mike Wallace, but the guy ahead of me picked him. I'm counting on Jennings to be a bona fide 1, and Floyd stepping up in the absence of V-Jax. My secret hope is that McFadden or Brown can be a decent RB2, and then I can deal one of my RBs for WR help

    Thoughts?

I wasn't pleased that Mike Berry (some douche for ESPN) has DeSean Jackson and Justin Forsett as "overvalued."

Of course he had Clinton Portis as a sleeper. I know he will have some big games but he won't play a whole season.

Everyone seems to think Jackson is due to score fewer TDs and that Maclin will step up. We'll see. I have DJax on a couple teams.

Anyone noticed how retarded the NFL.com projections are?

    Free league

That was me you traded with on that deal. Since you didn't mean it, if you want, I'll trade back with you. Also, if its ok with everyone in the league that we do this sort of thing

Nah, don't worry about it. Its just backup QBs, honestly. Like I said, I think Stafford is a bit of a sleeper, so I'm hoping he'll step up and have a great season. Besides, as long as he has Calvin Johnson to throw to, he'll at least be semi-useful.

Re: The Official TiB Fantasy Football Thread 2010

Just finished my 2nd fantasy football draft ever and here's what i came up with

***It's a 16 team league, hard to come away with a complete team with that many people***

    QB: Drew Brees (NO)
    RB: Jahvid Best (DET)
    RB: Chester Taylor (CHI)
    RB/WR: Johnny Knox (CHI)
    WR: Calvin Johnson (DET)
    WR: Bernard Berrian (MIN)
    WR/TE: Tony Gonzalez (ATL)
    TE: Jermichael Finley (GB)
    D/ST: GB Packers
    K: Ryan Longwell (MIN)

    Bench:
    QB: Mark Sanchez (NYJ)
    RB: Bernard Scott (CIN)
    WR: Early Doucet (AZ)
    WR: Dexter McCluster (KC)

Obviously my team is severely lacking in the RB department. I have a trade proposal of either Gonzalez OR Knox for Laurence Maroney (who is working with a groin pull currently). I don't think it's worth the risk, even with my shitty RB situation. What about you guys?

Doing my first ever fantasy football leagues this year and i think i did pretty good in the draft. 10 team auction draft style on ESPN. Head to Head standard scoring format. Here is my team.
    Starters
    QB: Drew Brees NO
    RB: Maurice Jones-Drew Jax
    RB: Steven Jackson Stl
    RB/WR:Jahvid Best Det
    WR: Andre Johnson Hou
    WR: Bernard Berrian Min
    TE: Heath Miller Pit
    D/St: Ravens
    K: Lawrence Tynes

    Bench
    QB: Carson Palmer Cin
    RB: Clinton Portis Wsh
    WR: Legedu Naanee SDg
    WR: Austin Collie Ind
    WR: Dez Bryant Dal
    WR: Mike Williams Sea
    D/St: Eagles

I was thinking of dropping one of my WR for another TE but not quite sure. Anybody who has played alot of fantasy got any suggestions for me?

Re: The Official TiB Fantasy Football Thread 2010

The Yahoo ones are usually a decent *guide*. The NFL.com ones seem completely, completely retarded. Like, more likely to lead you down the wrong road than the right one retarded.

Don't. Heath Miller is a crappy TE and I'm going to assume that means anyone you'd pick up would be even worse. All of your WR are more valuable than that. If someone busts out, sure, grab him (though probably by cutting Miller). Otherwise, no sense degrading your depth for someone who won't help you. Just pick up a TE for Miller's bye (and again, cutting Miller would be an option at that point) or else trade one of your D's (or WR) for a TE better than Miller.

Most experts roll without backup TEs, Ds, Ks, and oftentimes even QBs, just because the value difference between a backup and someone you could snag off waivers is minimal, and the roster spots are better utilized by gambling on a WR or, more likely, a RB who might bust out and win you a championship. Guys like Jamaal Charles and Jerome Harrison last year.

Well after one night for the free league, I had Pierre Thomas who had a 16 point second half because the first half the Saints ran one time. I feel like an asshole because I had D. Henderson on the bench and he scored 10 points. If I lose 10 points, I'll be fucking furious. Rex Ryan's FUPA, just know if you won, you did because the Saints offense is a total crapshoot.

If I win, it'll be because CJ is playing Oakland and he devoured that city.

For some reason I have every starting kicker for both Monday night games. I sure hope my opponent remembered to start his kicker today.

I'm so happy I got Brady and Welker. Unstoppable duo. Starting off 1-0. Disappointed with CJ Spiller.

What a way to start things off. Lost my RB2 and my backup QB to injury, likely for a while. Fuck.

Something with his ankle, he was in a boot on the sideline when I started watching in the second half.

I was just looking at the league and saw that. On Sunday I picked up 3 Kickers to go along with Nate Kaeding who I already had so I had every monday night kicker. My opponent forgot to put his kicker in so I wanted to make sure I won.

It's kind of annoying, but when 48 rushing and 59 receiving yards loses out to 101 rushing, the scoring system needs to be changed.
