I don't know if any of you still have Cable/Satellite, but the channel that used to be Palladia and is now MTVLive has been running the Artist Spotlight for Foo Fighters. If you miss Taylor Hawkins like I do, the first of two tribute concerts is Saturday in London. It will be on MTVs YouTube specialty channel at 11am ET and an hour special aired on regular CBS at 10pm ET Saturday night. Lots of good artists scheduled to appear.

For anyone that wants to watch the London version, it is available on PlutoTV*, here:
    https://pluto.tv/en/on-demand/serie...presents-taylor-hawkins-tribute-ntsc-2022-1-1

And, the LA version that starts tonight at 10pm ET, I think, is supposed to air live on PlutoTV, MTVs YouTube channel, and on Paramount+. I'm assuming it will be available on Demand afterwards.

*PlutoTV? Where have I been? I thought most of the "free, but ad-supported" streaming services were all crap. But, this is a fairly vast collection, totally free.

Well, now I'm reading a correction that this will NOT be streamed live, but broadcast later. Hmmm.

Geddy & Alex played the same three songs as they did in London: 2112, Working Man and YYZ. Their introduction was from Jack Black, with Dave Grohl playing on 2112, RHCP's Chad Smith playing on Working Man, and Tool's Danny Carey played on YYZ. One funny thing was as the outro part to 2112 played, Smith switched places with Grohl and kept the cymbal ride going, then flung the sticks behind him as he sat down. I look forward to seeing the polished final broadcast version with some closeups on Smith and Carey. Both of them were friends with Neil Peart.

    Couldn’t agree more.

That was a fun trip down memory lane. Thanks for that.

That Molly Hatchet cover using the Frazetta painting (the Death Dealer, I think?) is so badass.

Some of the fun of record collecting is seeing the album art that you haven’t seen for years. Even finding new shit to listen to based only on the art.

There’s a lot of times I’m flipping through stacks at the store and see some weird little-known album, but it’s obviously a Roger Dean cover.

Rush is putting out some new content which is basically a bit of a rehash of their old stuff.

Here's a new "visualizer" video for one of my favourite tunes off of Signals, one of my favourite albums of theirs:

Hard to believe it's been that long.

I remember buying the TAPE of this album back in high school. Wore it out in my Walkman.

One of my top three favorite Rush songs, new Visualizer video and poignant tribute to Neil Peart, featuring nods to books he authored, his motorcycle and "bar & grill."

The only thing it was missing was a bottle of The Macallan 12 somewhere. That was a religious part of his travelling and writing.

Great new interview with Alex Lifeson as he teaches his solo from Limelight.

I was coming here to post that! This series is going to be fantastic. I loved this episode, obviously, but not just for the solo. When Alex actually strums out the chords, I just about cried. It's not 40 years ago, it's now, and that's just amazing.

I think Alex was the best first guest he could have for the channel... the stories, the enthusiasm, the insight... it was like yet another glimpse behind the scenes of my favourite band. Never mind the solo itself... it was interesting watching him play it so effortlessly, and so efficiently compared to other attempts I've seen people make.

Looking forward to see what's next.
