He was. He did say that because of the fact that his book has now been bought to be made into a live action show, he can no longer allow free licensing; however, basically anybody that had made stuff prior as an individual was able to get into a grandfathered type agreement that they could continue as long as they were a small entity or something like that. Sounds like it was more of a requirement from the production company that bought his rights. Regardless, there were a few vendors at the event that had DCC merch. I got a leather patch that says 'Don't gaslight me, Jesus." from one, and my daughter got herself a Princess Posse button.

    Makes sense.

Had no idea about the live action deal. Hopefully they do a good job on it.

It was bought by Seth MacFarlane's production company, so I have good hope. If they're able to give it half of treatment they did for The Orville, I can see it becoming a good adaptation.

Wow. Had no idea. Huge respect for MacFarlane and Orville.

I piled through the Southern Reach books, which is what the movie Annihilation was based on. I thought the movie was very good.

After reading them, I found the movie was more inspired by the books than tied to any particular story in the books (the movie loosely integrated multiple storylines in the book and invented some new ones).

The books were very weird in a Lovecraftian-sorta way - I enjoyed the writing style and felt as if the books lent themselves to "feeling" the story rather than needing to read and process every single word.
