Let's do a silly simple nostalgia/pop culture thread Focus: Who has the greatest voice of all time? Also post awesome examples of those previously nominated My nominations: James Earl Jones Sam Elliot Jeremy Irons Keith David Patrick Warburton
I second Don LaFontaine and nobody else. Nobody comes even close to The Voice Of God. He made movies as popular as they were because of how that booming voice of his sold them. Honourable mention goes to The Man: Also, Casey Kasem. Warmest D.J. voice ever to grace the airwaves.
A lot of those Brits have this resonating timbre to their voices. You could listen to them read stereo instructions. Since nobody appreciates Bobcat Goldthwait, I give you Richard Burton. His voice was mellifluous at first, then he started smoking 70 cigarettes a day and his voice... got even better. This also goes for top monologues of all time. Very few things truly move me, but this guy's speaking voice is one of the most captivating things. For shits and giggles, Christopher Lee reading The Raven (not quite Christopher Walken).
Christopher Hitchens Forward to 2:10 "My own opinion is enough for me, and I claim the right to have it defended against any consensus, any majority, anywhere, any place, any time. And anyone who disagrees with this can pick a number, get in line, and kiss my ass." And on the death of Jerry Falwell, "If you gave Falwell an enema, you could bury him in a matchbox."
Hawkmen! DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE! I think Benedict Cumberbatch will do fine as the new Smaug, but I'll just hear Richard Boone's voice.
Skip to :25. I'm referring here to Will Arnette, but Alec Baldwin has a pretty amazing voice as well. I apologize if this is not nostalgic enough, it's just that, when I think awesome sexy voice, I think Will Arnette.
Ian fucking McShane. Powers Boothe gets an honorable mention, but it was hard to hear him over Ian McShane's fantastic awesome growl.
Seriously? We're on page two and there's no mention of James Earl Jones? The voice of Darth Fucking Vader and CNN? You're all dead to me. Never mind Christopher Walken. Do you... understand the CONCEPT, of Christopher Walken?
