One liners can define a movie, and even sometimes get into the lexicon of our culture and over stay its welcome. However insightful or annoying they might be, they are one-liners everyone appreciates or should appreciate. Focus: What are your favorite one-liners? One my favorites:
Pretty much anything Doc Holiday says. Val Kilmer was the best...back then. Personal fave..."I have two guns...one for each of ya."
Heh, I absolutely love that movie, and there are some many great one-liners; "You go to the box, for two minutes, and you feel SHAME, you know...and then you get free." And of course, this great line from Paul Newman; "You better get married again, or your son's going to wind up with somebody's cock in his mouth before you can say Jack Robinson!"
I've only gotten to watch bits and pieces of I, Claudius, but I love this scene. It's riddled with great lines and has the often overlooked Derek Jacobi as Claudius. "Senators, I shall do nothing unconstitutional. I shall appear at the next session of the senate, where you may confirm me in my position or not as you wish. But if it pleases you not to, explain your reasons to them, not to me." It helps that the "them" in this instance happens to be the Praetorian Guard. And the late great Patrick McGoohan (Or Dr. Ruth or Edward Longshanks, whichever or prefer) delivering a great line from The Prisoner.
And the movie Friday, I was going to post the puff puff give scene, then I was going to post the kool-aid no sugar scene, then I was going to post the you got knocked the fuck out scene, then I decided fuck it the entire movie is fucking hilarious so why bother with any of them. Along those same lines That 70's Show has some of the best one liners and burns of anything so posting individual scenes is futile.
Commando is a must-watch for any aficionado of one-liners. "I eat Green Berets for breakfast." "I lied." "Let off some steam, Bennett." And my favorite...
Too many one liners to post, but I'd have to say Caddyshack is way up there on the list of great one liner movies.
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail." Can't find the clip in youtube but I'm about to pop the dvd in right now
When Maximus finally reveals himself to the emperor is one of my favorite parts of the movie Gladiator. You talking to me?
