Intersectionality is a band-aid to cover the fact that critical theory is shit at handling orthogonal axes of privilege. But that doesn't even start to address the fact that the critical theory model is fucked to begin with, and doesn't even know where to begin explaining events like the one I referenced.

Glad this thread went from pictures of chicks we've always wanted to see naked to a bunch of dicks in here debating who is more sexist than the other at this point.

I wish we really could move the needle on the value of a woman's nipple culturally. Right now there are parents convinced that if their 9 year old son sees a titty he'll turn into some sexual deviant. Or if an 8 year old girl sees a penis she'll turn to prostitution or be unable to talk to a man again. We just need to change the context of body parts.

There should be equal context and freaking out over Justin Verlander's cock being on the internet. Every year an NBA/NFL player has his cock flop out on the internet, there isn't any manhunt for those men/women who leaked those. This is one of the things I'd like to see normalized.

Once again, you've missed my point. I'm not saying everyone should wake-up and just be like "dicks and vaginas are all the same things! This isn't a big deal people!" I'm talking about examining the underlying reasons why there is such shame and taboo associated with bodies. There are cultures (Hi Europe) where this stuff isn't so intense as it is here.

Things have a created and perceived value, we need to adjust the created and perceived value of body parts so people won't 1) do highly illegal shit to see them 2) won't freak out and have ridiculous emotional damage if 1 happens.

Also, Nom, that idea isn't mine and it isn't a man's. This is a woman who started FreeTheNipple.com and wants to do exactly this. She is of course from your beloved city, you should be familiar. On the flipside, women who want to go topless of their own volition get fined for public nudity, where bros can go topless with no problem at all. Why can't the women go free? Why can't they tan out in the park without having tanlines? That's on the other side of this coin isn't it?

    That's bullshit right there.

Someone needs to develop a time machine, travel back to 1630 and introduce some Scootah level pornography to the Puritans that landed at Plymouth.

And what do you think would happen if Scootah showed up to a 1630 Puritan colony wearing a gimp mask, chaps, and holding a studded paddle?

I don't think that has anything to do with this situation, though. I mean, I'm all for women being allowed to go topless. Please. But, JLaw and others weren't just being naked. They were sharing intimate photos with a lover or spouse. Someone they had developed a significant trust with. Jennifer Lawerence didn't want to be naked in front of everyone and was denied that opportunity because of some archaic law. She only wanted to be naked for one person, but it got displayed to everybody.

Also, Denise Richards is desperate for attention. But, is that really how the hackers got the iCloud or whatever access? By sending an email to which these people responded? I didn't know anybody fell for that.

Well think about it. Really think about it. There was a time where ankle caused boners. Getting a lock of hair meant something. These are created values. If we dropped this technology back in the 1560s, if there was a selfie of a calf the scandal would be just as big.

We need to cut out the shit that makes this stuff so "OMG, her ANKLE!" Now that has transferred to titty.

Rush, I'm talking about getting to the root of the problem. Getting to the core need/want for someone to do this to anyone. If we remove the taboo, it could decrease the desire to break laws to see said taboo thing. It's possible right?

It isn't taboo, you'll just see it around. If you see anything enough you let it fade into the background. Like a male gynecologist, sees vagina all day, I'd bet off a hunch they are less likely to want to run and see JLaw's minge? Or they became gynecologists to see vagina all day every day, I don't know.

It's something to think about, because right now, all we've discussed is symptoms and why those symptoms suck.

My guess is that Denise Richards used a really common password, but then drastically misspelled it, accidentally creating a super strong password in the process. Thus preventing hacking. Science.

If this were just about the allure of seeing tit, though, it wouldn't be very exciting. There's plentiful titty to look at on the internet, many of them top notch. Instead, the allure is seeing celebrity titty.

Don't think so. Every human culture has taboos, and every human gets the thrill of transgression. If it's not ankles, or sex, it'll be something else. (Imagine the sh*tstorm if tax returns had been leaked, instead of dirty pics.) The current tempest is only partly because of the nature of the pics; it's also because those pics were meant to be private, and forbidden, that they caused such uproar.

So then we're back to square one where it comes to everyone making sure they're taking reasonable precaution to the ever present threat of people doing shit they're not supposed to.

    Sweet.

To comment back a few pages, yes, there are more leaks happening, just not the the magnitude of the first batch. Couple of new Kaley Cuoco pictures were leaked last night and there's is constant talk of more coming out. Most of it is just internet bravado, but some of it is coming from "reputable" sources.

Going back to the debate, I will come right out and say it. I have little to no sympathy for a giant majority of things that happen in life. Really the only things that get me worked up are when something is truly out of a person's control. For instance, in my hometown there was a pretty violent home invasion that made national headlines. The people there did absolutely nothing to deserve what happened to them. That I have sympathy for.
Someone who takes a naked picture of themselves and doesn't take any precautions to keep it private, sorry, you don't get to climb onto your high horse afterward and scream about the injustice you are facing.
Since everyone is throwing out analogies, I'll put one out there as well.

If I go to the apple store and log into my online banking account with a public computer, what can I say if someone steals my information and bleeds me dry?
If my home computer has no network, malware or virus protection and my computer gets hacked what, what can I say if someone steals all of the information on it?
If I take a naked photo of myself on my phone, send it to someone else, and then store a copy in an online server, what can I say if that photo gets leaked to the world?

All I can do is say, "fuck, that's completely shitty someone did that to me and next time I'm going to be way more aware of what can happen with my choices."

Kaley Cuoco and a few others are taking the approach everyone else should take. "Fuck that was stupid, people are shitty, learned my lesson well."
It should not become a crusade to try and demonize an entire gender of people into feeling sorry for another.
