I miss the old drawing board. There were some talented artists floating around, and it would be nice to see that again. To get started, here is a random sketch I did of a character in a national security lecture and transferred to GIMP. Naturally, she is a bombmaker.
Good call. Couple of rules... criticism can be provided, if asked for, but it better be constructive, and have some substance. If criticism is NOT solicited, then don't provide it. Keep the "nice!" responses to rep or PM.
this is nice, i liked the old drawing board as well. I like drawing but i do it rather infrequently, usually because i become frustrated with the result not ending up with what i have in my mind. I added a portrait sketch below that i made, any critiques are welcome so it will turn out better next time i try and make a portrait.
Axel NL: I would try to be looser with your hand when you draw. It seems like you are trying to get every little section perfect right at the moment when you draw it. Loosen up your strokes and the drawing will come easier. Also, pay attention to your proportions. I would say that hairline is a tad too high. And with that, here is the finished example of my non-loose pen strokes and not paying attention to proportions!
Well, after all those pretty, pretty colors, I think it's time for some old-fashioned pencil-smeared drawings. (The reason I didn´t draw any arms in this picture isn´t because I´m lazy. Well, actually it´s part of the reason. But I copied this one from one of my photographs. And this was all that was shown on the photo. So yeah......)
Here's a piccy I did about 4 or so years ago. I was going through the files on an old phone and came across it-it's Optimus Prime holding Megatrons severed head. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Another photograph of mine that I decided to draw on paper. (I feel like a retarded foreigner for asking this, but is there an English verb for such an action? Because there are Dutch words for it, but those don't really translate that well.) Now that I'm posting it, I see that I've missed a couple of things. Like a fucking floating hand and a girl with no waist. So consider this a work in progress Photograph that also became a drawing. Anybody seen the Iron Man 2 poster? No? Well, it looks kinda like this. After I see the movie, I'll probably finish it. Puppy-time.
Some characters I designed for a friend who wants to make a webcomic. He wanted the girl to look like me, so that was intentional.
I got a small solo show in LA with like 2 weeks notice so I've been trying to make paintings for it like crazy. Here are two that I made yesterday... the one of the woman isn't quite done yet.
Here are a few more... sorry about the bad photo quality. The second one is called "Darwin, or Prometheus Bound" and it's made out of cut paper. The last photo is a process shot that's clearer.
Clearly I'm not an artist, but I do have this drawing/comic. Background: Sometimes during the work day, my buddies and I have these ridiculous email threads where we just fuck around, crack jokes, make plans, etc. A couple of times my friend Gator has made a joke about my sisters (I have 3 younger sisters). So one day he made a joke, so I instinctively drew this, scanned it, and sent it out to everyone. It features Gator and myself, and is an artistic depiction of what would happen should he make such a joke to my face. It's about a year old, and I just found it again after getting new office furniture and cleaning out my old drawers.
