Welp the season's already started so might as well throw out some of the current NBA talking points: 1. Are we destined for Warriors-Cavs, round 3? 2. Who's going to get the 7-8 seeds in the West? 3. How's Philly going to resolve its crowded frontcourt? 4. Do the Clippers have a chance? 5. My Timberpups have started 2-5; is this team ever going to put it together? Let's talk about some ball.
1. Barring injuries, yes. 2. Jazz/Grizzlies 3. I figure with all the injuries it'll never be crowded. 4. No. it'll be an interesting offseason for them. 5. Not this season.
Well that was fast. I am sure everyone wants to know that the NBA 2016-2017 champions are once again the Golden State Warriors. You can now all assume the position and give praise to the greatest NBA team of all time. Or until the next greatest NBA team of all time is declared.
Durant winning a title with the Warriors is like when you beat a video game with the cheat codes turned on. Yeah, you technically did it, but it just doesn't feel right. I'm really proud of how well the Spurs did this season. Name me a team that's been to the conference finals a year after after losing its franchise player? There's a lot of what ifs about Kawhi's injury, but injuries are part of the game. I'm also really sick of this whole "best two way player" crap. Harden is a beast, but the dude only plays on one end of the floor and just stands there on the other end. I'm excited about Philly's young core, especially if this trade works out for the first pick. The Knicks crack me up and watching their perpetual mismanagement is one of my favorite past times. The Timberwolves will be fun. Not great, but fun. That is all.
How so? Golden state built through the draft excluding Durant(much like the Spurs did excluding Aldridge). They were just smart about it and a little lucky cap space-wise.
I said Durant winning a title with the warriors, not the warriors winning a title with durant. The pre-Durant Warriors were great. Loved watching them. Still love Curry, Clay, Kerr. But I despise the concept of super teams, of players buddying up to win a championship and thinking that counts the same. Built not bought. I really wish the NBA's salary cap worked more like the NFL.
Butler and the 16 to the Wolves for Dunn, LaVine, and the #7 pick. I love LaVine, but I have to applaud this trade for my team.
I'm a die hard Spurs fan, but I've always loved watching the wolves since the tom gugliotta, porter, garnett, marbury, cherokee parks days. They've always been a fun team and I'm really happy for them. Especially since their success came at the expense of the Bulls and especially Dwyane Wade. Fuck the Bulls, and that parrot face Nelly wanna be bitch.
One of the best NBA articles you will ever read (that happens to be about Darko Milicic, and punching horses in the face)
My favorite part of that article: And who made this decision? Who thought he knew better than anyone else? (I will never not take an opportunity to shit all over him.)
