Anyone else catch it yet? It definitely does not feel like the TNG show or even the movies really. I liked it, but it felt really over produced with the absurd amount of music and whatnot. I wasnt sure if i was going to buy the reasoning to get Picard out of retirement, but its done pretty well and it was believable. Overall, I liked it and Ill keep with it for a bit.

I don't have CBS AA, but I think that the show has promise.

Stewart was always the one elevating the SFNG material, I imagine that he will do so again.

Just watched it, and I agree.

I'm never really a big fan of the "dreamy" sequences, but once they got through them a bit and started to explain things a bit more, I was enjoying it.

    I'll keep watching.

Seems like its kind of going for a similar theme of Star Trek Generations where its a far more personal story of Picard rather than him just being a conduit for the expanded Star Trek world.

Thats Captain Riker to you, motherfucker.

These guys are a little too harsh with their nerdy shit, but I do enjoy their reviews.

The show has already been renewed.

6 episodes in and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It's kind of fun seeing old Star Trek characters pop up unexpectedly.

Like Hugh as Director of the Borg Reclamation Project.

Cant wait to see how they explain Q growing old.

Was the first season worth sticking with? I kinda gave up a few episodes in.

Shouldn't be difficult. It's absolutely in Q's character to mock Picard's aging/mortality by appearing as old as he is.

Just watched Season 2, episode 1.

It's starting off quite well, if you ask me.

    The return of

And yes, they did explain Q getting old...

Oh, Picard, you look older than I thought you would... here, let me catch up... *snaps finger, looks older* There we go.

I am really hoping this doesn't turn out to be Mrs. Picard is a Borg queen and that there was some sort of unchangeable fate and destiny that led him to become captain of the Enterprise to encounter the Borg and save humanity.

I like Jean-Luc because he made it to where he was because we saw what a highly motivated and skilled individual who worked his ass off he was. Same with the rest of the crew of the Enterprise in TNG and I feel any sort of "destiny" story arc cheapens it a bit like the Red Angel thing in DIS.

But then again, TNG has been described as competence porn, and working in the government I guess I prefer to watch the fantasy of highly skilled people who got there truly on merit working together for a common good as an escape from my reality.

I honestly never would have expected John DeLancie to have aged to look so god damned distinguished.

Anyone finish up the new season?

The last episode was fucking nuts. It's like it was produced by someone with severe ADHD and a cocaine addiction.

Some parts good, some parts not so much but still... woah.

Is it worth watching generally? As I mentioned above, I gave up with season 1. I tried to like it because I loved TNG, but this show felt nothing like it initially. If other Trek nerds say it’s worth sticking with, I’ll give it another shot. I gave up on the X-Files revival for similar reasons.
