got drunk this weekend and ordered gator. it arrived while i was home for lunch, come on 5 o'clock. since i don't have any shine at the house, what would be the preferred beverage to sip on while watching?

nettdata edit: great thread from the wdt i figured would be worth having in it's own.

    focus: shitty old movies. go.

bonus points for being the only person who knows about the existence of burt reynolds' gator. holy crap that's obscure, man. i had to sit through that as a kid because my mom came from that generation where every woman wanted to drill burt reynolds.

you should drink whiskey or beer or both. it's about moonshinin', so anything else would feel dishonest.

anyone who watches archer will be quite aware of gator, as it's sterling's favourite movie of all time. (hence the two images i posted just before your posts)

now, if anyone around here remembers or has actually seen white lightning, the predecessor to gator, that is worth bonus points.

and yes, i have both of them in my collection.

fair warning... didn't say it was good, just that it was the predecessor.

can't be that bad. since we're on the subject, gator did come in a dual pack with semi-tough featuring reynolds and kristoferson as football players.

i remember the glorious b-movie poster for it.

    "gator......come and get him."

if you want reynolds obscure i'm going with stroker ace.

stick is a boring movie but it has dar robinson's insane death fall in it. also sharky's machine he dove out of a seventeen story window for the final shot.

if anyone has seen hooper or stroker ace, i will give them rep. back in the late 80s, early 90s, these would be on saturday afternoon local tv.

there are a ton of forgotten burt flicks, some of them even decent. sharky's machine, heat, the end. shit, even bandit and cannonball run are in danger of being forgotten. not one person i know has seen either. that's a travesty. both of those are just as fun as airplane.

did anyone ever see the smokey and the bandit ripoff mini-series (called just bandit i think) on upn back in the early-mid 90s? iirc it used to air along side with hercules: the incredible journey and brisco county jr.

what trash that entire channel was.

i'll always have a soft spot for sharky's machine.

and few scenes are as memorable as moke's fall in stick.

well, i've seen the both. tbs was the reason we got cable, so my dad could watch braves' games, and they ran on there. also, stroker ace because cdb and loni anderson, duh.

i dont know whether you guys consider the death wish films to be awesome (i certain do up until death wish 4) or exploitation/campy trash or both.

theyre so improbable and bizarre and charles bronson is such a weird guy you cant help but enjoy them. his robotic reactions to his wife and then daughter getting slaughtered by random roaming gangs is also hilarious. "my wife was murdered? oh no." then he does his best impression of what he considers to be a sad face.

he may have been past his prime, but cop and a half was one of my favorites a couple of decades ago.
