Rant: Girlfriend's flight was suppose to land over 20 minutes ago, they haven't even taken off yet, I wanted to be in bed by 10. Pretty shitty Easter for me.
Rant: My day drinking yesterday was supposed to culminate in going to see Anthony Jeselnik perform. My date canceled about 90 minutes before showtime, and I couldn't get anyone else to go (and specifically, to drive). I ended up finishing the job getting drunk and skipping the show. This girl's been pretty solid thus far but apparently overdid it Friday night, which left her extremely sick yesterday. I'm a little pissed at the chain of events, but not at the girl because I know she's the partying type. I actually wish she'd maybe bailed a little earlier so I could've found another date or gone w/ a buddy.
Rave: Yesterday (the 24th) was my birthday and it was great. I was in a town in central Minnesota on the Mississippi for Easter but wasn't sober for a minute of it and had some good time with family and friends and shooting birds down by the river with my cousin and pellet guns. Rant: Didn't catch shit in the river... even with live bait. Rant/Rave: The next three weeks are going to be crazy and awesome but there will be a lot of shit going on. Next weekend I'm going to Madison for Mifflin and will get justice against Wisconsin (I was arrested there freshman year... got two tickets in four hours whoop de fucking doo), the weekend after that I'll be in Lincoln for my girlfriends graduation and will meet her extended family for the first time, and three weekends from now, I walk. I have two summer classes, but screw it I'll walk with my class and have a pre-real graduation party. Lots of good stuff, but a lot of change too and I just want to take it easy now. Rave: I CAN GO TO THE BOUNDARY WATERS IN JUNE! Haven't been there in two years and we're bringing my Colorado native uncle and his three sons.
Rant: I got up early this morning to get to work, but found out by pure chance (was talking to one of my collegues) that I am not working today. This has not been revealed to me earlier. Rave: I am not working today.
RAVE: I had a HOT date last night. Lots of fun with a very cool and sexy guy... ah, moving on to better things is such a breath of fresh air.
Rave: It's Great Monday! (If it was good to have Friday off, it's great to have Monday off, too). Rave: One paper and two presentations down. Mom's presence here yesterday was a great motivator to stay in my office and get that shit knocked out. Rave: The iPad is awesome, and I haven't even scratched the surface of its capabilities yet.
Rave: The semester is almost over with only about 3 weeks left. It's a good thing, too, because I'm already over it.
RANT: I have to change a hub, ball joint and my rear brakes. In the fucking rain. RAVE: The semester is over in two weeks. RANT: I am so behind on studying it's not even funny. I just can't get into it this semester.
Rant: 4 papers to write, 3 paintings to do, 2 finals in the next 2 weeks. Fucking kill me. Rant: Still procrastinating. Was going to wake up early to start the papers. Nope just slept until I had to wake up to go to the animal shelter for community service for drinking ticket-fuck academic standards. Rave: Easiest community service ever. Got to hold 8 week old puppy that adored me. Rave: Very cute boy handed me said puppy; puppy and boy were easy on the eyes. Rant/Rave: Had to leave puppy eventually. Cute boy insinuated that I should come by again before puppy goes to her new owners in 2 weeks.
Rave Beautiful morning, went for a run by the lake which was smooth as glass. Rave 50% off Easter Candy. Monday's the way to go. Hurray being raised by a Jew.
Stupidly Long Rant: A few weeks ago, one of my education course professors left midway through the semester. Since then, the course has been a cluster fuck, involving the head of the department coming in to talk with us and figure out where we're at. The professor that left had assured us that she would continue to grade us via online submissions for the remainder of the semester. The plan going forward was always for her to grade us out, while someone else supervised us during our field experience at the school. Apparently, after two weeks, the department head made the decision to bring in a new professor for the last two weeks of the class. We received an email from this professor informing us that he wanted to look at the work we had done already, but that he was reducing how much all of that work was worth, and increasing how much our final project was worth(originally worth 25%, now worth 50). On top of that, that we were to be in our classroom on Tuesday and Thursday for lectures. There are two problems with this: first and foremost is fuck him for basically negating all the work we've done thus far in the semester. Without my final project at all, I'd have a 73% in the class, and it would've required failing the final project in an epic way to get anything less than a B. Now, the final project is going to be worth some incredibly stupid amount. Second, the final project is based on our work in the field, which has been severely limited by multiple factors, including him removing us FROM the field experience for two of our last three field days, just so he can give us meaningless lectures. TL;DR version of Rant: One of my professors quit mid way through the semester, and with two weeks left, a new professor intends to reduce the value of the work we've done and increase the value of our one remaining project while also taking away two of the days we needed to complete said project. Rave: There is only one professor in the program I actually respect, and I have been talking to him about the situation as he knows I am generally level headed and a good student. I've told him of the situation and he said that it would be possible for us to appeal any grades to the dean of students because they're going so far outside the original syllabus, and he disagrees with the way the department has handled the situation.
Rave: New job! I'm going to be getting paid a stupid amount of money for shit so stupidly easy. Man getting laid off was the best thing to ever happen to me. Rave: I graduate in two weeks. Finally!
Rave: Signing an NDA for a classmate's business plan. He's a good guy and he wants me to be involved in what seems to be a good long-term project. Rave/Rant: I've been working on writing a business plan in a class and will present it in front of the class and a panel of local entrepreneurs. The Entrepreneurship program director was talking with me at an event after party at a bar and was talking to my prof who said there was five good plans and one great one- which is mine. I'm confident it'll go well, but I got word of who will be in the panel of entrepreneurs and it includes my former employer that I left in December and don't really think has any business sitting in the panel. But seriously... what the fuck. Rave: I got word that the company I work for is getting another intern. This is very good because I'll be doing less random bitch work and can focus on selling.
Rant: I'm getting old. Going to bed at 10:00 is becoming the norm. Bigger Rant: My roommate just sent me a text telling me to turn up the TV or music because he brought a random home. I met her earlier tonight and she seems really cool, but I'll be damned if I want to hear them getting busy. Rave: In September my fiancée comes to the states permanently, and I can't wait. I severely dislike not being able to get lovins on the regular. Bigger Rave: The week she moves in, the roommate is suppose to move out per his contract. LOTS of sexy time all over my house when that happens. Rant: September is really far away. Le sigh.
Rant: I haven't climbed regularly in two years. Literally, two years. Other than climbing once or twice a month, it's been too crazy busy for me to get on the walls. Plus I work in a climbing gym. I don't want to spend my recreation time here as well...especially since I'm here 80 hrs a week. Rave: We had some down time tonight and I got on the walls. Nothing spectacular, but a good little bit of easing back into it. I've missed it. Other rant: I bought two rose bushes to plant outside my apartment. Someone stole one of them. I don't care if they pick the flowers, but COME ON. Stealing the whole goddamned bush? Fucking LAME. God I hate people sometimes.
