    Rant Snow...and more snow.

Rave Just another reason to hole up at home and avoid the shitty driving conditions.

Rant I am absolutely terrible at speaking in front of groups of people. I just don't get how my nerves go on overload and end up stumbling my words while giving my briefings for my unit. Maybe its due to the fact that I'm sort of anti-social. I'm thinking that volunteering for being the unit safety representative was a bad choice.

Rave Natalie Portman + Mila Kunis=win.

Rant: So my parents got divorced when I was 11 or so, about 15 years ago now.

My father went out dated women, and got remarried just a month ago. My mother has done nothing in terms of personal relationships.

I don't tell her what is going on with my father because it is none of her business, however my sister can't keep her mouth shut.

So I was cornered at Christmas (this is a late rant because I have been fuming since) and what my mom said followed these lines:

"Your dad got remarried. That is right. I know"
"Whatever. You have been divorced almost as long as you were married"
"I have a right to know these things. You need to tell me these things"
"Not really. You aren't married anymore, and you tell me over and over again how you want nothing to do with him"
"Well his wife has 2 million dollars in mortgages she has taken out on her two houses and was late on her taxes last year."

That is right. My mother hired someone to look into my dad's wife's financials and did a credit and background check on her. Her 2 million in mortgages was what the total value was years ago, when she took them out, not what she has left to pay. Oh yeah, this woman is also very rich.

I called my mom out on how pathetic she was and how she is incapable of separating herself after almost 2 decades of life away. That is high school levels of maturity. She might as well be facebook stalking my dad's wife. Oh, wait if you type "fac" into the URL bar on firefox on her computer the second result is my dad's new wife. I told her this, and told her that she needed to grow up.

    My mother's reply:
"Well she is a politician. She says what you want to hear so you will like her."

All I could do was sigh and walk away.

Rave: Our friend is moving back in now that she is back from France. Something about her living with us causes the wife to put out 2x as much.

RANT: TiB was locking up every night while the backup routines were running, and the DB wasn't acting the way it was supposed to according to the docs.

RAVE: It's sorted out now, and backups will no longer interfere with intelligent discourse and depravity.

Rant; Skymesh internet in Fortitude Vally, Brisbane are sending their managers home as the entire city is under water and it is not safe. But our submissive boy, who is a junior there, is amongst those being forced to stay at work!

Rave; Scootah is currently alerting the news channels about the company.

Rave: Made record time driving home today thanks to the entire city except my work, my house, and an island of road between my work and my house being underwater.

Rant: I'm one of the few people working in the CBD that have to work.

Rave: I'm one of 3 people who can actually get into the office. The three of us spent the afternoon sightseeing around the city.

Rant: I hate snow. Hate it, hate it, hate it! We only have maybe 3 or 4 inches but the roads are shit and people are idiots. I'm just fine driving in the snow as long as I take it slow, but when I meet another car and they can't figure out that they're supposed to stay on their side it gets pretty dangerous.

Normally I don't even have to deal with it, I just go to work 5 blocks away and back home. Since I took on another part time job in the afternoon that isn't the case. My second job is has me driving a 200 mile round trip every single day. It's been taking me an extra 30-45 minutes because MoDOT doesn't know how to clear the fucking roads. The sun's finally coming out so maybe they'll be better today but holy fuck the last two days have been interesting.

Rave: The major highways are cleared and other than about 60 miles that's where I'm driving.

Rave: My little Ford Focus has made the trip just fine the last two days, passing all sorts of SUVs and trucks in the ditch.

Rave: I've found that listening to podcasts keeps me calmer than music when I'm a bundle of nerves driving on a sheet of ice/packed snow. I've had a chance to get caught up on some that have just been taking up space on my iPod.

Rave: I don't have to make the trip tomorrow, so tomorrow after Job #1 I'm going to come home and day drink in the nice warm house.

Rave: Killed the job interview this morning. Went really well, really relaxed, and I felt I made a great impression on the three people I interviewed with.

Rave: I sent out thank you email to the three people I talked to. I get one response really quickly from the first woman I interviewed with (the one who I'd be working pretty closely with). After exchanging a couple very brief emails (we had talked about DECA and how her son should participate in it - at the end of my interview) she responded with, "I don't get to make the decision but I definitely have my fingers crossed for you." If she has any say whatsoever I should be getting a new job.

Rave: I hate to get my hopes up but this job would allow me to walk to work. Through skyways. You can't beat that.

Rant: My local liquor store has two coolers - one with quality bottled beer and the other with shitty canned beer. Guess which cooler was broken?
