Mega Rave: Agreed with Mexicutioner this is going to be one of the best movies of 2010. I was pissed because I thought it was coming out last week, but it was a limited release not wide. Oh and Mark Wahlberg is a damn good actor.
Rant I swear on everything I hold dear that if Sarah Palin is ever elected president, I will move to Canada.
Major rant: This was my worst semester in college, despite the fact I put the most work in. I am in serious jeopardy of losing my 8k a year scholarship (have to maintain a 3.0). Fucking anatomy (79.45 is my grade. That's .05 away from a B-, thats one fucking question on any of the tests) Fucking electronics (A C because of blatant bullshit by the professor.) Fucking probability (A Pass/Fail class that I am in danger of failing because I took it without knowledge of the prereqs.) Fucking bioethics...Oh wait, B+/A- there. One thing to smile about. I get to talk to the anatomy professor and try to change one of my answers to get a B-, which would save my GPA from going under a 3.0. Heres to praying he is a nice decent human being. Rave: All this worry goes out the window if I make a 80+ on the final in probability. Been studying all week and am currently on an all nighter for the test in 3.5 hrs. Wish me luck!
Rant: You know what's nice? Turning an assignment in at the end of the semester on your own. Especially when it's a 5 man job. I had to do it alone because they just vanished off the face of the earth, won't return phone calls, answer e-mails or pm's. This is cutting into my valuable free time that is spent on getting drunk. I sincerely hope it burns when those assholes take a piss. Rant: Because someone else said it best;
Rant: I overslept this morning. I usually go in at 4:45, I woke up at 4:58. I was so tired last night that I forgot to turn on my alarm. My backup alarm is on my cell and it's always on, well the operating system updated yesterday which turned it off and I didn't think to check it. Rave: Still made it in by 5:10. Rant: Had to stay late 30 minutes to make up the difference. Rave: My sister is home visiting from Fort Scott. We're going to Springfield to finish Christmas shopping this afternoon then we're going to have a movie night, supplemented with some good old fashioned alcohol.
Rave: I started "Slipper Fridays" at work. We used to do "Flip Flop Fridays" but that's not too appropriate with the weather in the teens. So now, my feet are warm and super comfy at work. This is very pleasant.
RAVE: I think I kind of just nailed the "dream" job interview. RANT: They said they won't have a decision until the week after Christmas, so I get to sweat it out for a couple weeks. RAVE: Finally, some goddamn snow in Denver.
Rant: I am far too lazy to work 50 hrs/week with small children. This daycare job makes mid-week drinking impossible and weekend drinking imperative. I wonder how I'll manage when I start taking classes in January.
Rant: Fuck Alzheimer's. Fuck it right in the head. Extended, depressing rant: Spoiler Cruel, cruel disease, you are a motherfucker. My father is 72 and should NOT be wasting away because of this shitty brain-attacking shit. He was a highly-regarded leader in his occupation. He is known around town as one of the kindest, smartest gentlemen to have ever graced this planet. Whether it's people I meet that knew him growing up or in highschool, or whether they came to know him later as an adult, he gets the same glowing praise as being a good man. You could NOT beat the man at trivial pursuit. He could involve himself in any conversation about sports, politics, religion or basic human interaction, and he would be recognized as one of the smartest people in the room. He always had a joke ready to go, yearned to learn more by reading constantly, and never once treated his wife or children poorly. He adored having fun, acting like a kid or trying new things, and was most happy when you were happy. And now. Now, he sits murmuring and sleepy-eyed on a sofa all day with part of today's lunch stuck to his chin waiting for his next diaper change. Goddamn motherfuckass shit.
Rave: This week has been awesome. I only have one exam left, and most of my clients are already out of town. It has been extremely light and relaxing. Rave: I saw "Black Swan" a few days ago. It was awesome. I liked it so much I'm thinking about seeing it again this weekend. It's frightening how much they got right. Rave: I've made it through 7 out of 8 exams without getting sick. This is a new record. Usually I'd have a sinus infection and tonsillitis by now. I've managed to keep the stress in check, which is amazing considering that right now I can't run, do Yoga, Pilates, or anything else that keeps me grounded. Yay.
Rant: I have been back and forth all damn week with the lead engineer at the risk management agency that approves our designs. All of a sudden he is shooting down a design we have used for 10+ years based on one incorrect assumption (his). I cannot reason with him and his bosses defer to him for whatever stupid reason. Just so all of you know, he is single-handedly driving up the cost of gas for the U.S. with these delays. Seriously. One guy. Rant: I rarely get headaches and I had a terrible one all afternoon. Rave: Apparently NewCastle helps headaches.
Rave: Finally said screw it and took my car to an exhaust shop where they put on my drivers side Cat. This project is done and sounds great!! Rave: Went to my primary instructors retirement ceremony tonight and surprisingly had a good time. Got invited up to Michigan when I have the time to go to the Michigan vs Michigan State football game and any other game I can make it to. Also, my instructor and his brother go to tons of concerts such as REO Speedwagon, Springsteen, Foghat, etc. So I'll hopefully be able to make it up there some time this fall. Rave: Found a cheap flight home for Christmas. Leave next Tuesday and return on the 4th. Hooray, two weeks away from here!!!
Rant: My boss is on a warpath and I'm supposed to get axed. I think he lost his mind. I have been the head server for 3 years. I have only ever had one complaint and they were assholes, ACCORDING TO HIM. I don't know what to say to him besides smile and act cheery. It's kind of fun, he is so freaked out to be around me. Like he wonders what I have up my sleeve. Aces, Baby, Aces. Rave: This is an opportunity, I can feel it. I just have to pick a window...

Rave: Christmas shopping is done, and most of the gifts are wrapped already. Rave: Final paper for my education class is graded, and I've seen half the evaluation. It is evaluated twice: once for a point grade (25 points, out of 100 for the class, so a hefty chunk of our grade), and once for an overall evaluation that is seen by future employers. This also includes how the host teacher (the teacher I worked with in the field), my in-class teacher and the field-supervisor (teacher from my school that observed us teaching) rated me. Overall ended up with a 2.4 out 3 possible points. 2.0/3 on the paper itself, and between 2.5/3 and 2.75/3 on the teacher opinion rankings. While this isn't my overall grade for the class (need a B to be able to move on to student teaching next year), I feel a little better. I'd need to get 14 points or less on the paper to get less than a B in the class, which means she'd have to feel it was an F paper. She wouldn't give me straight 2.0s if she felt it was an F paper, so my guess is that it is a B or C. Rant: I've become a perfectionist. If I get a B, it will nag at me for months. I've gotten straight A's since returning to college, and I'll be pissed if this is the class that fucks up my streak. Rave: Aced my econ and one of my history classes. Even if I do get a B in my other classes, my GPA since returning to college will still go up. My grad. GPA was 2.85, but since returning, with all of my A's I've been getting, it is up to 3.10, and it should get higher as I won't ever get less than a B. Rant: Won't see grades til Wednesday. Hate waiting.
Rave: Things on the homefront are good. Really good. Happy good. Kids are good. The Guy is good. I miss my dog though. Rant: Fuckingshitgoddamnpiss. I remember when Boy Scouts were useful types. Not maladjusted socially inept little wimps. Tonight? I'm babysitting twenty of the little whiners.
Rant: My stupid little sister fell asleep. She's 18 fucking years old and she was asleep before two. I'd like to say she passed out but she didn't make it a quarter of the way into her Four Loko. I guess I'm going to have to be the mature one and finish it for her. Rave: Dawn of the Dead and the rooftop shooting scene. Rant: Two family gatherings tomorrow. Rave: Pregaming for the above as soon as I become conscious in the morning.
RAVE: Got pulled over going 15 over at 4am. Got let go with a warning because I acted lost. Rave: Got bumped to the front of every line at the airport. Rave: Immediately got bumped to 1st class. It's my first time being up here.I could get used to this. Rave: Free in-flight wifi. Rave: Almost 3 weeks of leave to spend back home with family and friends I haven't seen in a long time.
