Rant: So over stupid fuckheads who think they know what is right to do and not right to do even when I can point out the relevant paragraph in the defining documentation that says they are stupid and wrong and should listen to both me and their boss sitting next to them tell them they are a dumb fuck. Work is sucking a dirty big fat one at the moment.
Rave: Today's shirt.woot.com shirt is fucking hilarious, "When Doves Cry". I am so tempted to buy one.
Rant: here's a thought, you stupid cunt. Don't come to class when you're sick. I just sat through an hour and a half of you coughing all over the back of my head and neck. Fuck you.
Rave: No major work due for at least a couple of weeks. Rave: First teaching day pushed back. Little else to do, so no stress about it until at least a week from now. Rant: First teaching day pushed back. Want to get into the class and start teaching.
Rave: Dr Pepper cream slush from Sonic. Sounds like a weird combination, I know, but it is fucking delicious.
RAVE: I've had an entire week off of school. Hurricanes and tropical storms are like Florida's snow days. But the best part is that even a hint of one sends everyone panicking about their liability because they're so unpredictable. So even if the storm doesn't come through we still get the time.
Rant: My back hurts so fucking bad. Goddamn nerve pain. Doc only gave me Tramadol, which is not enough relief. Rave: Herb helps, a bit.
Rave. Tattoo festival this weekend and I finally get to go. What's even better is that a tattoo artist I've talked to yesterday likes my idea for a new tattoo and wants to do it live at the festival. I'm pretty pumped but I'm not looking forward to the "hey does it hurt" or other stupid commennts. Rant. Haven't been around this joint much latelly, been kind of stuck in a rut. New tattoo should help.
Rave: New Yawk City motherfuckers! I've already visited two bars that I went to in '08 and had awesome service at both. If any of you assholes wants to catch up for a beer tonight, I'll be at Lansdowne Road in Hell's Kitchen (between 43rd and 44th on 10th) after about 9:00pm. There'll be an easily-impressed and pretty desperate six-beers-and-she's-good-enough Aussie girl with me if you want her, I prefer locals myself. I won't put my cell number up because I got Rickrolled the fuck out of last time I did that (in '08) but if any of you are keen for a beer or whatever, holler at me via PM/rep. I'll also be here October 18-25, going to CT for a wedding on the weekend. RAVE: The Aussie dollar is buying 99.93 US cents right now. That means those PBR cans I had last night were $A3.02! I fucking love this country, you guys. If any of your bosses needs a journalist, for ANY sort of work as long as it requires my degree, I will send you my resume if you will sponsor me for a job. Even if your company is in Bumfuck, Idaho. I'm serious. OH, SAY CAN YOU SEEEEEEEEEE...
Rave: I don't really smoke but today in a coffee shop I found a pack of Dunhill's with 3 left. Cue cigarette and coffee on the walk to class. Score. Super Rave: being a person who can smoke the occasional cig and not end up rushing off to buy a carton and suck them all down.
Rant: I just got notice from a guy who was about to launch a business and give me a sales job that he is no longer pursuing it. I was planning on quitting my job and joining on with him. FUCK FUCK FUCK! Rave: I still have a job and I still have one more good shot at a new job that I think would be good too.
RAVE/ Rant So, after 4.5 years of raping myself with engineering, I've been all but job-offered at a cetain company... As an industrial engineer, I have much background in learning manufacturing and operations strategies. It, along with optimization strategies, has been much of what I've worked on in my time here. The problem is I was offered a manufacturing job along with a sales and marketing job (both in the same company). I've been allowed to pick my direction. Manufacturing Pros: Aligned with much of my background. Potential for big money (?) Cons: Apparently it's repetitive factory work. Staying in same location Sales and marketing Pros: LOTS more travel opportunities, possibility of more enjoyable environments/ locales. Cons: Possibly (?) less money. The reason I put this up here is that I'm wondering if anyone else has been in my shoes. I'm leaning towards a sales and marketing position; I don't want to sound shallow, but a "fun" job with more opportunities for socializing is a big plus to me.
Rant: I'm 99% sure I tore cartilage in my knee within the last day or two. It looks like someone stuffed a golfball under the skin on the inside of my leg. Juuuuust like the last time I tore it. Fuck.
Rave: Just got home from the Bad Religion and the Bouncing Souls concert in Toronto. Fan-fucking-tastic. 30 years, and Bad Religion still blows most other bands away. Tonight reaffirmed why they are my favourite band of all time. Rant: People that don't fucking wear deodorant when they're going to a fucking concert and plan to be in the pit. I was going hard for over 3 hours and my shirt felt like it had been dipped into a pool at the end, but I honest to god did not smell even remotely like shit. I should recommend the stuff I use to the long haired, foul-smelling fuck that was beside me for part of the show.
Rant: So I don't really think the thing between me and this girl is going to pan out. Sucks but I guess that's life.
Rant: Law students have no fucking sense of humor. We're talking about a kidnapping case and I decide to do an old Woody Allen bit. I tell them that I was once kidnapped, and all around me looks of shock and sympathy. One of the girls in the group asks what happened and I respond with, "Well, my parents immediately sprang into action: they rented out my room." One kid laughed, the others looked at me in horror. Rave: It's Friday so I don't have to deal with these bastards again until Monday.
Rant: Had to go into work at 3:30 this morning. Rave: My weekend has already started! Rave: Jackass 3D is out today. I just got off the phone with my youngest sister and I think we're gonna meet at the theater and catch a matinee, maybe even make a double feature out of it if there's something else worth seeing. I haven't got to hang out with my sister in forever so I'm pretty excited. Rave: I finally read Fahrenheit 451, I'm not sure why I hadn't read it before but I shouldn't have waited so long. I've been on an anti-censorship kick lately so it seemed appropriate. (I'm also aware that it's less about censorship than it is about the effect of mass media, but you get the point.)
Rave: 98 on my instrument retake exam. Would have had a 100 if I had learned to add. Rave: Car show tomorrow, get to polish up the girl and take some pictures. Rave: It's the weekend.
RAVE/RANT Only worked one day this week, it was nice having some time away from my job..but when yesterday rolled around, boredom reared it's ugly head. I'm just glad their is a another cook at my bar, so me and this other guy won't be so damn swamped all the time. RAVE It's the weekend...I have to attend an enlisted workshop/briefings tomorrow and Sunday(Air Force), but I get my own hotel room this weekend in Cleveland, and I plan on drinking as much Oktoberfest as I can. RAVE OSU vs. Wisconsin tomorrow...should be a good one.
Taking the oldest on a Cub Scout camping trip tomorrow. This being a group of New Orleans dads translates into a great deal of alcohol and limited supervision of the children as they run wild and play with fire and knives.
