I remember this thread on the old board turned me on to some cool feeds, blogs, etc. Focus: What do you read every day that you would recommend? Over coffee, I will check Woot and Dealnews for shopping and BBC for news. As the day wears on, I will make sure I read Shrinktalk, Engadget, Zero Hedge and Information Is Beautiful. Finally, I will check out WhatTheChrist for the hell of it.
Websites that I check every morning, in order: The Idiot Board. http://www.prosportsdaily.com - Pro Sports Daily http://www.rodpedersen.com - My Favourite Local Sports Blog http://www.thesuperficial.com- The Superficial
That's odd, you didn't include your constant refreshing of the griffinwrites blog. Me: - My Delicious Feeds - ESPN - Numerous Futures and Forex sites - Yahoo Canada
-http://www.craigslist.org for general crap and the "best of" section. -Social news http://www.mixx.com it's similar to digg. -Not News http://www.fark.com for random weird news. Ebay, twitter, facebook and random links that my computer tech sends me.
i Bankcoin I read mostly "The Fly" as I enjoy his brand of humor. Jake Gint is interesting, if not racist, and enjoys the precious metals and talking about politics. Ragin Cajun blogs about technicals mostly. Fund My Mutual Fund "Trader Mark" runs a model portfolio and is getting pretty close to launching an actual mutual fund funded solely from this grassroots website. Interesting stock picks and economic commentary. Mish @ GlobalEconomicAnalysis If you work for a union or in the government, you'll probably hate the guy. But he often makes sense, even though he beats a deadhorse often. Others I'll read: ritholtz.com -- Entertaining, pragmatic, and unafraid to anger people. Too many posts for my taste. nakedcapitalism.com -- Helps distill what the MSM is reporting on finance and what actually matters. gregor.us -- Best energy analyst I have found. Makes compelling case that our path to energy independence isn't too difficult, but that we won't do it anyway.
http://sethgodin.typepad.com Solid, provocative insights on business, technology and progress. http://blog-la-sphere.com/ The most comprehensive aggregator for Angelenos. http://everythingisterrible.com Surreal, hilarious video cut-ups.
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.cracked.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.cracked.com</a>: Everyone here reads this site. Funniest articles to read next to Maddox. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.thechive.com:Have" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.thechive.com:Have</a> great pictures that always make me laugh. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/avkcv/i_am_maddox_ama/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/a ... addox_ama/</a>: Maddox on reddit answering every question. He's coming out with a new book and some shows. Still as hilarious as ever
My morning ritual normally consists of the following websites. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.dailytelegraph.com.au</a> Standard news updates <a class="postlink" href="http://www.leagueunlimited.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.leagueunlimited.com</a> Rugby League forum/news <a class="postlink" href="http://www.lamebook.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.lamebook.com</a> <a class="postlink" href="http://www.idiotboard.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.idiotboard.com</a> <a class="postlink" href="http://www.cricinfo.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.cricinfo.com</a> If there were some cricket matches overnight There's never really a specific order. These are pretty much the only websites I visit regularly other than porn
Consumerist - I especially love their Morning Deals feature. (I check Woot! too but someone already mentioned that). Dlisted - Vulgar, immature and catty. Everything a good gossip blog should be! Plus it is one of the few gossip blogs that is updated on weekends. I also second whoever brought up Fark. Geekologie (and The Superficial) Pioneer Woman - She posts new recipes nearly every day under the cooking tab and she frequently has awesome giveaways. Cute Overload, I can has cheezburger, Cake Wrecks and Go Fug Yourself - I am still a woman after all and because I'm nursing a two month old, I have estrogen shooting out of my ears nearly constantly. And finally, People of Walmart and Lamebook (someone already mentioned that too) - Because I never pass up the opportunity to have a chuckle at the expense of my fellow man.
I admit to starting and ending my day with TiB. I don't have time to peruse anything else early besides a quick look at Facebook and AFF, because I have to be at work at the crack of 4PM. When I return home, if I'm sober enough, I'll check in to see what Gris is up to at <a class="postlink" href="http://www.griffinwrites.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.griffinwrites.com</a> Then it's on to: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.extremetube.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.extremetube.com</a> <a class="postlink" href="http://www.pornhub.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.pornhub.com</a> <a class="postlink" href="http://www.redtube.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.redtube.com</a> <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youporn.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youporn.com</a> What??? Don't judge me.
Mish Ritholtz (previously mentioned) Tyler Durden Drudge TiB a few local news sites Sutterink (Kurt Sutter's blog) Alan Sepinwall's TV blog
This site is the only internet site I check daily, period (that goes even for email, which I don't care for). Granted, there are other sites I frequent, but every single discussion forum out there is filled with the kind of LOL'ing people that I want to beat to death with a tube sock filled with drywall screws. My local paper The London Free Press, because the newspaper is the only reporting business whatsoever that isn't filled with sensationalism and the two-faced Faustian talking heads of TV and the internet that haunt us like a shitheel version of Jacob Marley while lining their pockets by grinding out unapologetic lies. You know who you are, so fuck off and die. For reading and re-reading, for me nothing beats National Geographic. In my opinion the greatest "magazine" ever, with skilled writers, fascinating depictions and unbeatable photography. I've had a subscription for five years and I'll never get rid of it.
