Penny Dreadful has my all-time favorite opening idiotic dialogue between characters. Ives informs Ethan, claiming to be a survivor of Little Bighorn, that he would have been a child then and no one survived. Ethan nods, and this establishes how smart Ives is. Trouble is, the exchange takes place in 1891 and the battle was in 1876, so Ethan, a man in his mid 30's, could easily have fought in the conflict. Oh, and there were HUNDREDS of survivors. Think about that for a moment. The first major dialogue in the series, introducing the male lead and female lead, and no one could be bothered to spend 30 seconds on Wikipedia making sure they weren't spewing complete bullshit. Somehow, this sloppy, bloviating, pretentious, idiotic mess only gets worse from there.
